Help me TM a Name

I have a made up word domain I registered and I want to TM it. I tried the legal zoom route and found it not only cunfusing but cost about $500

Speaking on this topic. Since it's impossible to register a TM all over the world (or at the very least it's extremely costly).

Is it worth getting a trademark in the country which I reside in or can I just stick a TM near my name (not the R symbol)?
