question Help, domain transfers, GoDaddy and contact info

Hi NP'ers,

I've been out of the IM/domaining/website game for a number of years and I think I may be confusing myself over the transfer lock and contact info. Btw, it's great to see namepros still going!

I bought some domains recently 2 which are at GD and need transferring asap. Expiry is in 9 days.
I have updated my details in GD but contact details are still showing previous owner. Reading about transfer lock I'm hesistant to touch the contact info if it will place a lock on the domains preventing a transfer.

tl;dr
Do I update all domains to match my contact details(manage domains>domain name.com>edit contacts) then transfer the domains out even though my GD profile contact info is up-to-date?

Would i potentially lose the domains if i tried transferring as is without updating the individual domain contact info?

With the new transfer policy, the losing and gaining registrar will request transfer approvals from the existing owner (ie domain owner as per the contact info). If your contact info is not updated, you'll not be able to authorize the transfer. If you do update the contact info, the domain will be locked from transfers for 60 days.

So, I recommend you renew at GD this time and transfer out once the transfer lock expires post contact change

Looks like i'll renew it after editing contact info. I found some GD coupons.
