1. Every single domain you register, have a clear plan what you intend to do with it:
- sell it for profit
- monetize it for profit
- develop it yourself (careful with this!)
- keep it as a pet for many, many years to come at a cost of ~$8 per year! (you can round that off to $10 for easier math and won't be far off either)
2. Learn about drop catching!
3. When hand registering domains, ask yourself every single time:
- why did someone let go of this fantastic name?
- why had no one bought it in a drop auction?
- why had nobody caught it when it dropped?
- why hadn't it been hand regged before you found it?
4. Stick to .COM's only!
5. Register only short domains, under 10 letters, no more than 2 words and no hyphens
6. Learn all about
brandables and if you decide to register any, stick to 5L's and 6L's only
7. Don't get sucked into Chinese Chips, 5L's and 6N's both!
8. Spend a lot of time following posts on NP. Ask questions. Domainers are a friendly bunch. Be critical, don't believe everything people say. Like with doctors, best get a second opinion!
9.
Warning: domaining is very addictive! Monitor your sanity and perform a reality check at least once per week:
- can you still live and function after a fashion, without registering at least 5 domains every single day?

- how many domains have you registered in the past 24 hours?
- how many have you sold or developed in that same period of time?
- do the math and see how many domains you will have on stock in one year's time. Next, multiply that times the annual renewal fees!
Does this still make sense to you?
Welcome to your new life and best of luck in your domaining endeavours
