While the DNJ-type sales are quite often to end users, most domain sales are between domain investors. What has happened with the launch of hundreds of new TLDs and the frenzy over numerics and CHIPS is that domain investor resources have been spread over asset classes that were not that active or did not even exist a few years ago. The Domain Sherpa interview this week featured someone with thousands of names which are CHIPS or numerics. For those of us who never entered this space, sales have fallen. In the end, renewals of all these new TLDs and CHIPS and numeric will have to be paid. Who is ultimately going to hold all these millions of domains which were not even registered a few years ago?
