I put off registering a domain until the next day; when the next day came around, some Chinese company had already registered it. Gah!

The domain is 63k.org, for what it's worth.

Similar thing happened to me before. The moral of the story is to not wait when it comes to registering. As another DN member said "When I find a good hand reg, I can hear other people typing their credit card number faster than I can."

a lot of times, it's common to happen, the key is "don't put it off" good opportunity only knocks once, grab the moment as they say.

where did you check the availability? You also might want to check back on it in a few days.

It may be up for tasting if you typed it in a few times then decided not to go through with it.

Hmm, that seems more likely; I have several other NNk.org domains, none of which apparently have any value. I'll check back in a week!
