On two separate occasions recently, someone has mentioned a posting I had in the "appraisal" section and "for sale" section when I was selling a domain.

Like, "but you were selling it on namepros for blah blah blah" or "but it seems like the appraisals were all over the board at namepros"

Keep in mind that these were not members of the forum, they just did a search for the domains on Google and since most of namepros, if not all, is indexed, my postings concerning the for sale domains were in the search results.

I am not complaining because I know this is a public forum, but I just wanted to remind members to be careful of what they post at times...it could come back and haunt you!

The views expressed on this page by users and staff are their own, not those of NamePros.
.US domains.US domains
that's why many sellers use this type of language...

48 hour sale
Limited Time Offer
Subject to Change

etc.

i know sometimes I get in a "selling mood" and am willing to reduce my price substantially, then I look back a few days later and say > WHAT WAS I THINKING??

cheers,
mike

p.s. also, appraisals dont' mean SQUAT - period. your domain is ONLY worth what someone is willing to pay on that day, at that time... just like your house, car and stocks. :)

Also, when getting appraisals, some people will ask for an appraisal on (example) forums_com instead of forums.com
That way, the appraisal doesn't show up when they do their search for forums.com

I think I might start practicing this method! Thanks.

That is why I think no comments whatsoever be allowed other than pointing out a hijack or scam. Make an offer or say nothing. This is a rule that should be inforced. Infact I think having no appraisal done from now on is the best for a name which you will sale later on that forum. You get 2-3 goof appraisal and it hurts, eventhough not true.

This is why I am "reluctant" to put domains up for appraisal, I have put a few up but I think it can definetly go against you when a possible end user finds the thread and sees appraisals like "reg fee" or low xx.

I think most domainers know that appraisals can range from reg fee to thousands for the same name, depending on who is appraising it :)

An end user/buyer may take this as gospel ?
