I got a call today from GoDaddy. It was a dead call -_- (I am very tired of dead calls). At first I had no idea what it was, but I googled it and found this website.

Is GoDaddy making telemarketing calls to their own customers?

This has been going on with webhosting co's for quite some time and with Godaddy now considered one of the largest web hosts as far as volume if not the largest it doesn't suprise me.

I got the same thing. I promptly sent them an email telling them not to call me ever again, they responded saying they wouldn't, and they haven't.

This is the first time I hear that an actual web host called someone. I mean, sending an email should do it, but not call your residentential phone number.

I remember getting one around when I first signed up with them. Nothing real special.

When I opened my first account with them they just wanted to verify that yes it was indeed me and yes I did place the order. That is the only time I have ever heard from GD. Plus every phone number I own is on a DNC List to any sort of telemarketing.

Oh is that who keeps calling me? I don't usually answer calls that are blocked or private or 1-800 etc. HUH. I've been getting a lot of them lately, sometimes I pick up and hang up, sometimes I put the phone off the hook, sometimes I just let the machine pick it up, sometimes I turn down my phone or turn it off if I'm busy or have company. Sneaky buggers!

I hope it won't happen to me, most of my domains are in godaddy! It's just a waste of time, they should just send emails to my preferred email ad for receiving spams... :)

Suprising if they would make calls, do they have that much time.?

I'm surprised too.

Calling via telephone actually incurs a cost for them, while emailling can be autoamted via scripts or cron jobs.

Its really unexpected that they call their users.

Calling to verify membership or orders is fine though, as it increases security.

As far as I could tell, it was an automated system with a pre-recorded message.

They call all the time. They usually call when you have names expiring or if they notice you transfer names away from them.

Somebody called me once and left a message, not recorded, and said something like "Hi Mr. xxxx, this is Joe xxxx from Godaddy. If you ever have any questions about your domain or hosting accounts, call me at nnnnnnnnnn."

I didn't have any questions, but I thought it was a nice gesture.

I just received a call from them too last week. The guy just told me that he was my account rep and wanted to make sure I was fine with my service. I thought it was a nice gesture really. Made me feel really special!! Didn't try to sell me anything, although he did mention I could save by paying my hostings yearly instead of monthly.

A couple of times for me. Reminding of renewal, expressing business gratitude etc.

They called me yesterday because one of my names expires. I don't mind them calling me. Atleast I'm positive that I won't let a good name expire accidentally.
