GoDaddy Expiring Domain Auctions has dropped .mobi

About a month or so ago GoDaddy stopped listing .mobi domains in their expiring auctions. After much pushing for answers (6 calls, support tickets and a ton of pure BS) I was told today that they simply decided to no longer offer .mobi expiring lists as if it was some business decision, which makes no sense since it basically costs them nothing to list their own customers expiring domains no matter what the extension. This shut down by GoDaddy corresponds to about when mTLD was sold so I'm curious to any connections, but as usual substantive answers are not to be found or provided by GoDaddy. So I'm curious to hear any thoughts on this, perhaps someone here knows more about the innards of registry/registrar relations and how it may have an influence on things like this.

Please spare the .mobi bashing, there's plenty of that in other threads to last a lifetime.

.mobi? I thought that was obsolete.

lol sorry...

dubdub, scandi specifically asked for no .mobi bashing...why can't people just be professional?(and i know u didn't mean too...sometimes i am falling into the same trap lol)....my thoughts on this very issue is just......get all .mobi domainers together with a petition sort of or even a class action suit because of the millions of dollars invested together and sue the crap out of the former .mobi owner :)

Cheers

This thread is about GoDaddy and why they would exclude one TLD from their expiring domains auction marketplace. I know it's tempting for the mobi haters to focus on the TLD but the topic is really the registrar.

I understand this Scandi and i just wanted to step in because i didn't like the comment of dubdub(it was just not appropiate especially scandi asked for peace), that's all...My take on that is just that GD dropped it because of all the movement lately (what i heard with selling the whole thingy, registry to someone else) and maybe their statistics with selling .mobis going down etc(just an assumption) so they will drop the .mobi after all? i don't know....all speculations.....

GoDaddy's systems had a simple bug; they did not intentionally remove .mobi expired names from the auction. They have now fixed the problem.

Vance, thanks for the update. I guess you were able to talk the right people being from the registry side of things. I've been asking GoDaddy about this for over a month, multiple calls and only got stonewalled. I just checked and expiring .mobi's are finally showing up again. If you had anything to do with kicking goDaddy to take action my thanks to you.

LOL, I ask mods to clean up the thread and they go and delete the most relevant post from Vance. Go figure.

Instead of crying about wanting posts deleted, just put me on ignore next time. Nobody else had a problem with it, but not many people still believe in .mobi I guess.

I know it's a challenge for you, but how about instead you stay on topic.

Nobody else had a problem with it...

Are you blind and slow? Besides what cherry had to say your other posts got stripped by a mod for being off topic.

I actually never went off topic.

You said the .mobi expiring auctions were pulled a month ago and that GoDaddy was just giving you a BS reason as to why.

I found it to be perfectly reasonable to speculate that the auctions were pulled due to a lack of interest in .mobi. That is hardly off topic.
