Has Anyone Experienced This From Enom?

Found a non premium I was interested in, did not reg it right away.

Came back a couple of hours later to purchase and it turned into a premium.

A couple questions.......

What was the name, if you are comfortable saying....
And more importantly, where were you searching?

The name was OVERSEAS

The search was on Enom.tv

Well ok......

I think we all have learned a valuable lesson today. We all know that godaddy watches searches and then registers anything not reg'd right away. It now appears that enom has picked up this rather silly habit.

I will say that it is a decent name, but certainly not one I would deem premium. (Others may differ)

How about we run some tests........check some good looking names, but nothing you would register yourself. I would bet it isn't automated, but I would be willing to say they have a couple people looking at the search logs to see what pops up. If those folks see anything remotely decent, they may change the price to premium.

Here is a freebie: plumbingheating.tv Most plumbers are searched by plumbing/heating/cooling. So this would be an ok name to get. Much like Pest Control which was a nice transaction.

Run a few through enom.tv and check back in a few hours to see if the prices are higher.....

As I said earlier, happy hour may have started early here....and this may be paranoid ramblings.

It does happen, and I think it was a just a coincidence. Otherwise the 48 names in my cart that I have built up over the last month would be premium already.

This happened a couple times leading into the relaunch of premium names on May 1st, but I haven't experienced it since then. I'd be very suprised if enom has a mechanism in place to systematically change currently available names from reg fee to premium - at least based on my observations. How, why & when this happens is anyone's guess.

well, we are not going to solve this question, but regardless the moral of the story is if you really like a non-premium name buy it as soon as you find out it is available.

This is true not just because it could get reclassified as premium but because someone else might beat you to it!

happened to me too. recently. does not happen when I add domains to my cart. but if I search too much, it goes up. had 1 recently bump up from $25 to $100 - so I no longer run my long lists as often. :(

It happened to me before. I was thinking about registering a domain name and after doing some research about the domain for half an hour, I finally decided to register it. But guess what? the domain name got registered. I was really ticked off about it. I doubt it was a coincidence.
