Have any of you decided to get in on space technology names? Particularly regarding the planet Mars, and all the talk of various landings.
I know the very best names have been taken; but I notice that there are a lot which could still be registered, and they may need to be kept for a few years.
I decided to register one today. MarsBuggy dot com
I know it's not fantastic. I just thought I should have one, and someone will be making buggies for use on Mars and it's sand dunes. I'll have to discover who.
By the way, my name, and those of my three Grandchildren are on a data CD which was sent to Mars by NASA a few years ago. (Nothing to do with domain names)

Regards

Ralph.

I have had Hubble-Telescope.com for a long time. It seems like a good name for kids that are into space/science. The images are mostly public domain so I can imagine them learning how to process images into pictures they could sell on calendars or cards. With some effort and a subscription to PhotoShop it seems like it might pay better than a burger joint job and teach them some useful skills at the same time. My grandkids are still to young to try that, unfortunately.

It's a great start. Kids need something to "focus" on.
It's a good domain name too, even with the hyphen.

In reply to htmlindex Another great way to throw money down the toilet IMO

Possibly: but better than most of the new extensions.

Yep, registering domains in those new extensions are also throwing away money too. Some of those people may get lucky, but most people won't.

I think there is a lot of apples vs oranges which muddies the water in these threads. Domainers are looking for domains which will be desirable for a big budget business to acquire. They typically don't know or care much about development so they focus on generic characteristics (Age, Length, Consonants & Vowels, etc.) Those with more of a development mindset think the domain name is only a small part of what makes a valuable website and are more focused on the content it will take to do that.

I don't know that either approach is better than the other. I do think individuals have trouble appreciating the other 's perspective and that results in a lot of variation in perceived values.
