Mars Also Heating Up

Mars is being hit by rapid climate change and it is happening so fast that the red planet could lose its southern ice cap, writes Jonathan Leake.

Scientists from Nasa say that Mars has warmed by about 0.5C since the 1970s. This is similar to the warming experienced on Earth over approximately the same period.

Since there is no known life on Mars it suggests rapid changes in planetary climates could be natural phenomena.

The mechanism at work on Mars appears, however, to be different from that on Earth. One of the researchers, Lori Fenton, believes variations in radiation and temperature across the surface of the Red Planet are generating strong winds.

In a paper published in the journal Nature, she suggests that such winds can stir up giant dust storms, trapping heat and raising the planet’s temperature.

I don't think just because we haven't seen any that we can discount the possibility of life on Mars.. molds, yeasts, lichens, bacteria, virii, etc would all be possible to miss.

Meanwhile, this does bring up some questions and comparisons to our own global warming here on Earth.

Mars melting ice cap could reveal microbes that may very well the first E.T we would ever encounter.

Either way, if the Earth is hotting up naturally or by Man's Hand, we still have to stop polluting it with emissions. The oil will run out eventually too...

Yes.. No matter what.. We need to stop polluting..

It's like living in a house and just trashing it all the time.. pretty soon, things start to get nasty! We do need to learn to be one with our "mother earth".

The common warming trend between the two planets could have something to do with the cycle that the sun is currently going through. Everything has a cycle.. Woman, butterflies, your heart. And usually the cycle we see and measure is only a small part of a larger cycle...

Hell.. Maybe it out galaxies time of the eon! LOL

Interesting article dav3.us, thanks.

Heres a poem I wrote about our mother earth "Gia"

Gia Gone Wild
Gia has given..
and given more.
Gia has given all that she can afford.
And so we have taken..
and taken more.
And look at us know, it's a smorgasbord.
Like Mother to child..
we are forever a part of her.
But the umbilical cord..
should have been cut earlier.
Gia seems to be angry or getting upset..
I don't want to see how bad it can get.
We need to change our ways..
while things are mild.
For if we're not careful..
Gia will have gone wild!

The news needs to stop talking about anna nicole smith all the time and start talking about pollution and stopping it more.

I live in the country and when I go to the city it smells so bad, u can even see all the smog from all the pollution.

The media needs to address this issue more, it makes me mad.

There to busy talking about Anna nicole smith all the time.

I wonder how many billions will be spent to PROVE the Martian surface is heating up.
Has Al Gore been to the Red Planet?
