About a couple weeks ago I saw in 'domains for sale/offer' section that Harv23 was selling 137.biz for $40. So I made him an offer of $30. He accepted. Then I started to wonder. His paypal account was unverified & he didn't have any postive feedback. So he said he has another paypal account thats verifed. Also he said he'd get a positive feedback from someone (which he did, very easy to get 1 tho). So I said oh ok. So I sent him the $30 via paypal. Days go by & takes about 4 days for him to reply back. He does & says ok i got the money I will push domain soon. 2 days later (after about 10 pms & emails ive sent to him!!) he says ok I pushed the domain to: [email protected] When I told him over 20 times my email for the godaddy push. It was [email protected]! I told him thow to cancel that 'account change' & how to redo it with the right email. Of course no replies. Yesterday I get on aim (aol instant messenger) & start talking to some of my friends. Then a message pops up from "slipk749". He says "Hey" and says some stuff. He says "I'm the one who scammed you $30". I said I have no clue what he's talking about & I pretended I was the brother of 'jamminsport16'. Then half way through I said I was him & I was very pissed at him. He started to laugh & then said o I was just kidding & didn't scam you the $30. So he game me the aim of his friend who did. So I asked him who did & he said it was "slipk749" <-- WHICH IS HARV23!. And his friend said if I get into this investigation futher that his friends will kill me. <-- yes he said that! At the end of my conversation with 'harv23 --> slipk749' on aim he then said "haha im just kidding yah its me I scammed you". Then said some nasty stuff & signed off. I have a feeling he just blocked me.

So:
1.) Harv23 is a scammer. He is 'Hitch' <-- scammer.
2.) I sent him $30 for 137.biz. He never sent it.
3.) He actually said that he scammed me & laughed about it.
4.) I reported him to paypal.com.
5.) What else should I do?

I'm just pissed that the 15 year old kid would actually do something like this. He even said haha its not even my credit card & a lot of other horrible things. RJ knows about this. I've sent him messages. But, please ban him now. Also if he ever posts again please just ignore him & think nothing of him. He is a horrible worthless scum coward.

NO ONE MAKE DEALS WITH Harv23 EVER AGAIN!

If it was paid for through a credit card through paypal, then you have rights under the credit card company. If it was paid strictly from Paypal funds, then it could get messier. Got to hate scammers...

Here is how to get your money back, and it will work.

Go to Resolution Center.
File a claim.
Put in the required information.
Put that the item was never received.
Harv will be required to give tracking numbers. He won't be able to.
You get your money back - or at least his account goes into negative and he can't use it any longer.

Yes, this works even for legit transactions. You can buy something from someone, and if it's entirely virtual, they wouldn't be able to produce a tracking number if a claim is filed. This is why it's a good idea (even though I know nobody does this) to send a letter with delivery confirmation regarding the transaction. Then you've got a tracking # if they file a claim.

This is better than "So you think you can dance" intriguing.... lets wait for an explanation. Send SMS1 to 55555 if you think Jamminsports is a scammer, send SMS2 if you think he's not

It is upsetting to see things like this happening, on both partys.

I hope a resolution is made regarding the domain, but it is unnaceptable and disappointing to see you selling that gamscript on ebay :(

Paypal & scammers in the domain industry

About 4 weeks ago I agreed to buy the domain 137.biz from Harv23 here on Namepros.com. I paid him the $30 which we agreed to via pm. He scammed me. He never sent the domain. So I went on paypal.com & filed a complaint & said that he scammed me $30 for a domain that he never had in the first place & so therefore I never got. I continued to tell them that he's had previous allocations & also he talked with me on aim (aol instant messenger) & just laughed in my face how he scammed me. Then his friend got on & said he would Kill me if I got into this any further. I just got an email today from paypal that said they cannot refund my $30 because the item is virtual/intangible. What does this mean to the domain industry? Ever since my scam I've been hesitant of making buying choices. The only person you can trust is yourself. So, selling is easy (because you get the money & then you send the domain). But buying is the worrying part. With this news from paypal, that means that anyone can scam anyone for any domain at any price & they can just keep the money. You can easily just close a paypal account afer scamming someone say $1,000 for a fake domain. The paypal rep. just told me that this incident would be noted in that persons record. Not a suspension, just a simpling friking note.

Paypal email I got today:

Dear James Doyle,

PayPal has concluded our investigation of the following Buyer Complaint:

Case ID: PP-100-xxx-63x
Transaction Date: Aug 19, 2005
Transaction Amount: -$30.00 USD
Seller's Email: [email protected]
Seller's Name: Matt O'Donnell

Unfortunately, PayPal was not able to resolve this dispute because the item
purchased was virtual or intangible. As a result, we have not taken any
action against either account at this time. However, this complaint has
been noted in the seller's record for future reference.

Thank you for your cooperation with our investigation.

Thank you,
Lisa

That is total bull crap. I know you may say its only $30, but I'm sure there's been a lot more cases of this! Please help me out & post your opinions. I've contacted paypal over 10 times & kept replying to the issue on there with more conclusive information..

WOW

James.
Sorry to hear that.
Paypal won't cover any non-physical goods. Insist on Escrow next time. If the seller refuses - thare's your red flag.

So, you can scam as many people as you want with paypal, as long as its intangible/virtual? That can't be right.. Someone even said if you file a claim for fraud/scamming you will get your money back.

Did you keep a copy of the AIM chat with the threat contact the authorities they will contact AOL if this a real threat. You have to worry about selling with PAYPAL too usually I hear the opposite that buyer chargedback after name pushed I spoke to PAYPAL they said its banks who do not recognize the push. NO one going to use ESCROW.com for $30 We need to developp a mini escrow for smaller transactions I would like to see NP escrow for transactions done here SELLER pushes name to NP when seller says received cash then NP pushes NAME to buyer. COST to the buyer and seller of 200NP$

In the sales thread It could say I use NP ESCROW
SO once sold is posted
Seller pushed name to NP
Buyer Pays SELLER
Seller EMAILS NP $$$ received
NP pushes name
