Vodafone Deals to Allow MySpace on Mobiles

LONDON (Reuters) - British mobile phone company Vodafone Group Plc unveiled a deal with News Corp's MySpace on Wednesday that will allow its customers to access the popular web-based social network using cell phones.

Looks like MySpace will be going .mobi soon.

Nice article! I wish it would have directly mentioned .mobi though. I assume since Vodafone is backing .mobi, the pre-loaded phones will automatically default to myspace.mobi. If so this is good news for the mobi world.

While this is good news for consumers as far as mobile web browsing is concerned along with all the other news about mobile web browsing from big companies that want 2 jump in the game, THE BOTTOM LINE is there still is no mention of .MOBI from anybody or any companies so for everybody this just another news item at least to me. Realistically speaking IMO, .MOBI will not truly take off until at least 5 years later. Mainly your gonna have to get all these wireless phone companies to agree on the .MOBI extension, offer an unlimited plan, makers of phones need 2 all agree on one standard for phone browsing. By then hopefully for investers and techies .MOBI will be the standard for the mobile browsing and we'll be laughing to the bank. 5 years minimum time is my guess, 10 years max. .COM was not an overnight success and it surely didn't succeed in 2 years. PATIENCE, only time will tell.

hmmmm, i agree in principle with what you're saying, but the timescales are wrong imo.
the rate at which technology is moving 5 years may as well be 50 years.
i think mobi offers a window of opportunity. i think it will mature in about a year to 18 months, it's possible the bottom could fall out in 3.
who knows?
nothing is here forever anymore. there are so many changes going on in search engines, parking, leasing, domains themselves. it could all change beyond comprehension in the next few years. we do need these companies to start advertising them though & USING them & see what happens. Prudent to sell some off then imo
