I'm sure you have all noticed when looking up whois info that many domains are showing contact info as

[email protected] and [email protected] BVI

Anyone know anything about this?

Very Nosy.

I am not aware of Vmerchant, even the domain is not assigned any IP#'s/DNS. Why not ask the WhoIs listed admin of the domain: [email protected] .

But, you can find-out the who-and-why of nameadmininc.com on the website itself. Read their FAQs. They use domain's "parking" pages, that they park on their own servers, as a means to make money for themselves through paid advertising. Basically, taking semi-top or top-class names they find or can buy, and making money just off of the type-in traffic :$: They claim they don't sell the names..But, I'll bet if someone offers them the right $$$, they'll yell :sold: fast

--------------------------------
Among the thousands they own, I wish could make decent offers on:

Antarctica.com - own the continent
ComingAttractions.com - you name it, movies, fairs, ect..ect...
DeathPenalty.com - the ultimate forums, especially in USA
EShopping.com - now taking your order for thousands of products at hundreds of stores/companies
HappyNewYear.com - every year the party would be just on my one website
Hombres.com - just the place for me and mis hombres to hang out
Lottery.net - not the .com, but with a name like that I'd not complain!
Mobile.net - SMS message king...and one rich dude
Prescription.net - just the website your doctor ordered
Quality.net - Fortune 500 companies do anything to be on your "A+ Companies" list
StockTips.com - When NamePros gets so big it has to go IPO
TestDrive.com - Where you can comparison-shop without the car-salesman's pressure

:kickass:

I didn't mean $xxx by that. Yeh, you're right, as it would have to be in the mega-bucks :|

are they affiliated with buydomains? They seem to have the same grassroots logo on the page

Thinking of Vmerchant..Today they got ahold of ec.org, which being a two-letter .org would have not been grabbable via backorder. It was (and the question is how ethical this is, albeit ICANN and Internic allow it) "held" by Network Solutions instead of dropped to the registry for PIR's/ICANN's use as it should have been, then sold to them for whatever amount. Network Solutions places it in a basic "holding for re-sale" whois account, so folks know its coming. But, shouldn't they be required to either publically auction it, or drop back to the registry? The way it is done now is all hush-hush (can be said it is buddy+buddy conspiracy), and with price paid never revealed, sounds like a conspiracy still.

Sounds fishy to me :alien:
