After doing this for a while and seeing countless whois records, I have noticed a lot of domainers leaving out much of the whois info, or replacing the whois info with what looks like bogus info.

Many also leave out their name and put something like "admin" or "domain adminstrator" or some other name that is obviously not real.

How many or you put your real whois info in the contacts and who puts fake info in?

From my perspective I always put in my real and complete info because I do not want to run into a problem when I might have to prove I am the owner.

Imagine paying big for a domain and putting in fake info and then running into a problem where you can not prove you are the owner.

It is hard to understand how anyone would put fake info in the whois for the above reasons.

Well we are threatened by the registries and ICANN that we have to provide accurate whois info or the domain can be lost.

But as you said this is abused and not reported or nothing is done about it.

Always put accurate info down for the whois! Just because others put weird or inaccurate whois info down doesn't mean that you should start or try to.

The only thing that I've thought about adding to the whois is in the website title. Something like "For Sale, rent or lease/use" That's it.

I wish ICANN would crack down on false or misleading whois info, but they are too busy with bringing more gtld's to market.

Yes, if you read my post, I always put in all real info.

I already add a for sale message to the registrant name area.

I read it. I just wanted to reaffirm to the next person(or new domainer) reading the thread to do the right thing. So that makes two of us so far.

Then you are doing all the right stuff.

I'm with you on the fake or false whois info. Do you know if we can report this stuff to ICANN't

I see info that is so old and not updated. There are domains that have expired and are not being put back into the general usage somehow. I see domains reg'd in china with all kinds of crazy false whois info too.
