From 0 to 45 days, depends on the registrar.

No, they can send the name to redemption from day one. But most registrars avoid doing this, because some customers renew late, and pulling a name out of redemption is expensive.

They have custom grace period set by Icann. If you fail to renew your domain then registrar can charge any amount after grace period. You can't transfer the domain in grace period. Never transfer domain in grace period.
