Anyone stuck in a hairy situation? Given the current circumstances, sure you're not alone. Let's call it a panhairic. Or a hairdemic. Whatever cuts to the roots.

HotKey's hairy situation:

This is the before. The after, soon to be posted. ;)

Remember those selfie sticks all the rage? Well they could actually be useful now.. retooled into a "barber stick" of sorts. Still get a haircut and keep the safe physical distancing. Would take a very steady hand of course. However barring that, homemade solutions are definitely on the rise.

Please share your current overgrown lawn, if you dare!

Damn dude, that's cold!

You're like the kids that used to double dare someone too do something - now I got to do it so I don't look like a chicken!

I think this will play out like going for that first swim each year. You KNOW the water is still COLD, but you SO want to go in. You then spend the next several minutes staring at the water, which is then followed up by several minutes of walking up and dipping your toe in to it a few times. After that you do a few practice run ups before finally making the leap - immediately followed by that 1-2 minutes of regret because it IS freaking FREEZING - followed by the realization that it was all worth it because you're now past the initial shock, you're adjusting to the cold and it feels GREAT to be swimming again!

Right now I'm in the toe dipping stage (i.e. pulling out the shears and staring at them) and by next week I'll probably be in the run up stage (plugging in the shears and turning them on). After that, well, I suspect the next stage will come and go fairly quickly.... AAAARRRRRGH!!!!

(Ps. By the way, if you ever find yourself walking down the street and happen to look up and see someone sitting on the ledge of a building, please keep on walking for everyone's sake. If you stick around, it may not end well. Just saying... :xf.wink:)

LOL TestCase..now that was funny. And did not mean it like an egging on AT ALL, was just being silly, like the thread itself. For the record, the kind of kids you're referring to, the sheep rather than the shepherds, not my gig. Never quite understood that mentality actually, like an entire group gets hypnotized into some sort of blind mantra or something.

Anyboo- IF you do decide to do the deed, it would be awesome to see the before and after! As for the toe-dipping into cold water comparison, totally get ya. But, have learned in my later years, it's either take the plunge or just sit back on the dock, glass of wine in hand. And either option is just as cool. But the water is pretty sweet once you get in it, for sure.

Thank you- might explore that! (too late now though) They're with the times, that's for sure. Nice find.

Ran across a couple of colleagues in the field, first I've seen of them since February. They're starting to look like the kid from the 80's movie, The Peanut Butter Solution. Don't recall it exactly, just remember a lot of hair.

Funny. We might see some new hair styles emerging from the pandemic.

I was amused by the length and lack of naming sophistication of the "haircut" domain. GD values it at $280. But who knows, maybe it will take off.

Great topic!

Especially since I have a pretty massive full head of hair for a guy whose prime years are so far back in the rear view mirror as to be unviewable. ( that means I'm old)

Last cut was in early March and I need a cut every 4 weeks to look semi-civilized. Had my cutter take off more than usual, fearing it would be a while till the next haircut go-round and glad I did as salons have since shuttered.

Right now I look like I'm sporting a full grown hedge on my head but thats' ok - better than the alternative.

๐Ÿ‘‹ @Bob Hawkes -- my hair is almost down to my shoulders. If I were you, and you were me, reliving your radical days of the late 1960's, and early 1970's, once the hair fully comes in, what am (I, well you, or is it we) to do next?

Ever wonder how hair was cut before clippers existed... perhaps with swords and fire done by ninjas and dragons?

And for those split ends, perhaps their roots from ancient archers with a steady hand and a sharp eye?

I remember seeing an article in an old magazine (from the 80's ???) years ago that showed a "stylist" that used fire to "cut/style" hair.

All I could think of was what would have happened if he was doing someones hair and the stylist next to him started using hairspray on their client. It wouldn't have been pretty...

Keeping along the lines of physical distancing and haircutting, made me think of something like,,

ArcherCuts.com - where splitting hairs is our specialty!

(and, we comply with all physical distancing measures)
*bonus* special discounts to moving targets- the further you run, the bigger the discount!

:) eh

Hang in there! Primed or not, a full head of hair never gets old! Have a good hedge trimmer in garage if needed..

My man! Aerodynamic from the start, very nice. Guess you were ahead of the curve.

Decided to take the plunge, and gave wife and 10 year daughter some kitchen scissors to have a go. An hour and a half later, was happily surprised. Can feel the wind beneath my trims. Really enjoying this maintenance-free club actually. My new (un)do:
