The offer will end, and neither of you will be obligated to the the sale.

You could counter offer at a lower price.

Or the potential buyer might counter offer.

You counter offer erased the buyer's obligation to purchase the domain for 500 euro. So now he/she can just say "I dont want to pay 1000 euro" and walk away.

So its possible nothing more will happen.

But hopefully they will give you a new counter offer. Goodluck

Thanks, Means i can still offer a lower price in counter offer after expiration of last counter offer?

You still can work with the buyer as long as the buyer does not click the cancel negotiations button. You will see this in your sedo account in the offers received page. If they don't cancel negotiations you can extend your present offer for seven more days. Or you can make a new offer

You'll still be able to counter a 2nd time if they do not respond to your 1st counter. I just did this and for 10x the amount of my first counter. I don't know if that was a glitch or what.

Why not just accept the 500 euros and walk away? If the domain cost you $10 or less, I believe 500 euros is nice ROI.

Anyway, it's your call!

Lol. So as long as he gets more than what he paid for, he should sell it?

Sure... Sometimes, we just have to reason that the other person is a human like us.

He may have given is best offer and the counter turned him off.

Greed isn't the best thing because we are dealing with human and not a damaged ATM.

It also depend on how he got the domain name.

Was it a hand reg?

how long has he been holding on that name, considering yearly renewals?

What is the quality of the keyword that makes up the domain.

are there many buyers broadly or narrowly?

How hot is the niche?

Does the niche have big spenders?

Only he alone can answer all these...

But left for me, I will take it as long as it's a hand reg.

Lol. So as long as he gets more than what he paid for, he should sell it?

$1,000 is a perfectly reasonable counter offer to 500 euros. I think most people's first offer is not their final price. Hopefully, the potential buyer will accept it. If not, you can extend the offer or counter lower. Good luck!

Sometimes you have to keep from being too greedy or risk losing what could potentially be the only offer you'll ever get for a specific domain.

Personally, offers via Sedo are the exception these days for me, so I consider myself lucky whenever one of them comes along.

It helps to already have in your mind what ballpark figure you want for a domain when you acquire it. Everyone thinks their domains are gold, but in reality, I think some people end up dropping more than what they keep/sell in the long run.

If the person on the other end is a domainer, then they'll be accustomed to bargaining. However, if it's an end user and it's their first time buying a domain via Sedo - there is the possibility they already offered their max.

Hopefully the user will counter back, but if negotiations lapse and you are willing to take his initial offer, then change the Sedo listing to a $500 BIN and hopefully he'll come back and visit the domain and buy it.

Its not always right to accept the first offer. Most people`s first offer is not their final price. But once an offer is made both parties have exact figures to work with. The question is how much the seller is ready to move down and how much the buyer is ready to move up from the first offer.

You had an offer of โ‚ฌ500 (=$655) and you counter-offer with $1000, that is โ‚ฌ750.
When you make a counter-offer you should leave room for negotiation without being too greedy.
The idea is that both parties find middle ground. Accordingly, the bidder 'should' offer โ‚ฌ625 or $831 as a good faith gesture.

What I mean is that there isn't such a big difference between the initial offer and your counter-offer, and don't forget the Sedo commission (at least 10%). Perhaps you could as well accept the offer straight away while the bid was binding.
Now just wait and hope that the potential buyer will come up with a slightly increased offer, or he could just say his โ‚ฌ500 offer is final. Then perhaps you should accept this offer, unless you change your mind and think you seriously underpriced your domain.
Good luck :talk:

what i've never managed to get is how it's possible to discuss negotiation tactics without knowing the name itself?

a second thing that keeps me frustrated is how the fact a name is a hand-reg could possibly affect the value of the asset or its selling price?

sorry for interrupting

For me, this instance (they make an offer, my counter offer is double or so) almost always results in a fresh offer from them. But they will rarely just accept your counter offer unless you write a strong explanation why they should.

Your counter offer may have been a little high (I can't say without knowing the domain) but no biggie that he didn't accept. Shoot him a lower offer and see what he does. If he doesn't respond, accept or counter this time then I would say $500 Euro is going to be the highest he wants to go. Hopefully you can still get the sale at that.

I agree with what some of the others have said..If you paid reg. fee or slightly more than that you definitely should have taken the $500 Euro and moved on. Hope you sell it!

I would try initial offer 500 Euro with "this is my final offer" comment. Actually it looks like you lost the buyer.
