I made a number of inquiries on domain names lately and am still shocked how many domainers do not respond to an inquiry. Granted I did not open with a price, I always ask what are you looking to get for the domain. I end by saying I am very interested and please do not ignore my inquiry.

In the last month I have sent 6 inquiries and received only two responses and one response ended in a sale. So from 6 domains one was what I would call a great transaction and the other one at least an attempt for a sale.

That said, I have a tendency to send the inquiry at least twice and this month I send the following to 4 of my inquiries. that failed to respond.

Hello. I made several attempts to start dialogue to purchase domain.com and have received no response from you. I stated both times that I was very interested in the domain and would appreciate either a call or email back. At this point I will terminate any negotiation on this domain and wish you well in your endeavors. That said, I was very interested in your domain and it is your loss not to have responded. As a domainer myself I feel this is very poor business management on your behalf.

I'm also going respond to the What? You must be crazy? emails along the lines of "now we have got the low-ball, high-ball prices out of the way. What is your real last price for this domain?" Then I can send them a What? You must be crazy?" email to any low-ball prices :)

You do your due diligence and make your first bid at least $9k and not the $1 that seems to be the favorite price for would be buyers.

Why would anyone start bidding at $9,000 when LLL sales are actually happening at that price?

This was mentioned as the lowest price for the worst LLL.com. Hence any LLL.com is going to go for $9k or higher.

Some Chinese is spamming me this month and offering various Non-German .DE domains...
The most idiotic outbound I have seen for 10 years...

They don't really owe you a response if you're messaging them out of the blue, so that last email was kind of petty and immature. Just so you know how it's coming off, and why they responded as such.

I've been following your posts here, enjoying them, and have chatted a bit in PM too, but seeing that kind of passive aggressiveness makes me hesitate to open negotiations in the future. Again, just telling you this so you know how it comes off, to at least one person.

It is worse when you ask for domain appraisal from other members. Most of them act in a sarcastic egoistic manner as if you were asking for their "Precious Ring" Come on it is just your opinion we are seeking. You might remember this post yourself @MapleDots
We are here for one thing: Business. If someone looks for sarcasm or fun, he can go to FB.
I think the only one who gave me honest and neutral opinion was @Silentptnr.

Imo your inquiries aren't probably seen as from a "serious buyer". You need to talk money if you are serious and start with a decent offer.

And even then you might never get a response, that's not uncommon for this industry. But by offering $$$ right from the start, you will get a much better response rate.

Many inquiries received by domainers are a waste of time or people trying to get a bargain. Or a TM owner trying to set them up by providing a price.

And then you also have domainers that aren't realistic with their pricing.

A serious inquiry contains a cash offer.

We get so many tire kickers that frankly you cant blame him for ignoring your first email. I would probably have responded to your second in the same manner.

And are you so sure it was a bad business decision from his side? Most of us are looking for end user sales not reseller sales. So unless you are willing to offer end user prices, then he probably saved himself some time by just ignoring you.

I'll put one on blast. DomainCite. got a F**K You because I asked as a newbie domainer if we could connect on Twitter? from one domainer to another I figured it was not big deal. I assumed as a community we're all at least cordial. a simple "No Thanks" will do.

I was about to screenshot the reply to my 16,000 linkedin connections. put him on blast but I'll take the higher moral ground and opt out.

It goes without saying. There are all kinds of people out there. Some have been thru stuff in life to turn them into that. or......some just like being like that.

brush it off. move on.

That's life.

I got a "Piss Off" from an end-user I had emailed yesterday. Replied with a simple, "thank you for your reply." Honestly I do prefer any response to none. At least I know that road has come to an end and I don't have to hold my breath anymore.

I have gotten all type of insults from end users who didn't like receiving a one time targeted email from me. I just don't reply and move on. I have been in this business full time for 8+ years and you kind of learn to not pay attention to idiots.

If you are receiving all types of insults from the people that you spam...why are they the idiots?
Maybe you should be paying attention.

I rarely send any emails anymore nowadays; don't need to. But when I do or did they all were highly targeted end users which I manually compiled myself. Some people simply don't like to be emailed no matter what. Or maybe I caught them on the wrong day or time. Or maybe my domain sold before they said they wanted to proceed and this bothered them and then insulted me. Some didn't like my price and insulted me. They are not all because I simply emailed them. But yes, most were idiots because they were very childish. My emails are/were 100% Can-Spam compliant. Email marketing is simply the new telemarketing and nobody liked telemarketers.

I do have to say, which I forgot to mention on my previous post, this happened only about 1-2 times per year while sending thousands of emails per year so in reality I don't think you can really beat that if sending cold emails every week day. Some people just don't like unsolicited emails and I understand and respect that and never contact them again. But seeing your comment, I think you misunderstood me, as I am not receiving all type of insults frequently. I am speaking based on a time frame of years. And I never email other domainers except a select few who frequently buy from me.

Try being the only GoDaddy and Afternic rep on Namepros. I get told to go F myself by domainers on a regular basis. It doesn't bother me a bit. If you are going to be in business you need tough skin.

every time I sent email, I always mention their names! send more than hundreds email, never got FU, most of them will reply, no thanks, not interested! :xf.grin:, btw I only send targeted email, related niche and etc.
but since my domain suck so bad! I am not suprised if they reply No, thanks! :xf.laugh: but if they send me how much! to be honest, I am quite shock! after all I only risk HandReg domain:xf.laugh:

PS:
I think domain market are not that Good, because good market often times get positive result even if our product suck so bad! but I have good feeling in grey area niche :D Though I never try that niche!
