I have a question about contacting end users, trying to sell them .tv's.
Did you have situations when end users replied you with something like “tv? What is it? I have com (net or org, or something else). Why should I buy .tv?”
And in that case... what do you tell them?

Maybe there are some specific tips in selling .tv's for end users?

In couple of days I will start the “end users campaign” for my .tv or .tv's and such information would be very useful for me :)

Thanks, Nick

the .tv has to be special! other tlds need to be developed!

i sold .tv for $5000 - cause the .com was very established site! the end user was specializing in the same field and could benefit from the .tv

so they paid me $5000

always price your domain name to end users!

Thanks for a fast feedback! I have at least one, in my opinion, special .tv :)

I would advise against an email campaign to potential end users for .TV domains unless you have a phenomenal domain which could realistically sell for XXXX and you are willing to go beyond the Whois and [email protected] email contacts. We spent a considerable amount of time earlier this year sending out hundreds of emails to numerous companies. Most had inferior-quality domains. Some had brand names which did not describe their product or service. Others had a track record of having purchased domains for XXX+ in the past. Our promotional efforts included a mix of extensions .com, .net and several .tv domains. The mix was heavier Spanish as that is how my portfolio is weighted. In either case we promoted several one-word .TV domains and mentioned related multi-word .tv domains and received no serious offers. Two of those related multi-word .tv domains are now websites so I'm almost glad they didn't sell. To give you a feel for what we promoted without self-promotion, following are the global monthly search volume figures for the .TV domains we promoted (per Google adwords keyword tool)...

domain #1 3.3 million
domain #2 related to the first 368 thousand (now developed)
domain #3 90 thousand
domain #4 15 thousand (singular form is searched 673k monthly)
domains #5/6 (singular/plural) 165K and 110K respectively
domain #7 related to #4 74 thousand (singular 110 thousand)-now developed
domain #8 related to a .COM we promoted 90 thousand

So the .TV domains we promoted were actual search terms - not just a domain like "getinshapereallyfast.tv" which could be developed but which would be very difficult to sell to an end user.

were they video centric domains?

^ Congrats, what was the ".TV" domain name? :gl:

I would think that folks should be targeting specific End users for their .TV's ... just like any other extension, IMHO. I usually always start at Google - but always targeting relevant End users and then customizing each approach to the proper contact after thoroughly researching any potential ™ issues, etc.
When I owned .TV's, I had little success in specific marketings / sales to End users ... so any/all 'success stories' and details (including pricing) would be greatly appreciated! :music: :imho:

See you soon.

While I am somewhat restrictive in the types of .TV domains I acquire, in theory one can find videos or stock photos for most topics. As I mentioned, two of those domains I have developed...

Vestidos de Novia .TV - Home

Workout Routines .TV - Home

Of the others the Spanish domains were for florists, dresses and brokers (perhaps less suited for .tv but in Spanish this word also means runners) while the English domains were bootcamps and cutepuppies.

As others have said it is time to develop some domains. I will have another fitness/sports-related .TV site out in the next few days...

As you mentioned, Google is our best friend... yahoo and msn dont deliver as Google Does with search results.

Also Sponsored listings on Google are more competitive and pay more to get top listings!

Not to mention, end users also spend more money to list in top 3 generic search results on Google!

Don't waste your time and the end users time by emailing them your Junk .com for $100000000 US

End Users are dum, but not that dum! What I mean is, a huge percentage of End Users are years from understanding and appreciating quality short/generic domain names. Everyday, I find end users using some 3-6 word .com or use dashes that has nothing to do with their industry/business!

Example, dude registered DRKHALIL-MUSTAFA.com - meanwhile, DR KHALIL is a dentist and located in SOUTHBEND - if he knew anything about domains, he would know SOUTHBENDDENTISTRY.COM is available! That's were we come in, we do the work for the end users and register the domain name for reg fee and contact DR Khalil and other Dentist in his district.... 48 hours later SOUTHBENDDENTISTRY.COM sells for $350 US

My point is very simple, dont register a domain name, cause it sounds cool or you find it attractive! Register a domain name, knowing end users are flooded for the domain name you are about to purchase or REG!

THE KEY TO SUCCESS - ALWAYS PRICE your DOMAIN NAME - and dont be greedy! In the present market $200-$1500 sells!

Thanks again, how did the parties come to arrive at the final negotiated price of $5,000 for "PokerNews.TV" (with the folks at PartyPoker™.com)? :gl:

... will they be developing this ".TV" domain name? :talk:

I had PokerNews.Tv priced at $10000 US

Since i was very new in contacting end users, i got scared and accepted the first incoming offer of $5000 US, i did not want to scare the end user. I could have sold it for $8000! Since I was paid an extra $3000 US for my .com

As far as what they will do, im not sure. The good news is, the minute i sold the package, the poker industry got hit by US LAWS. My timing was perfect!

lol Rookie years, i had my eyes set on $1 million US - my God the amount of negative backlash that hit me was off the charts! D-:

The entire Domaining Industry wanted to Hang Me, some went as far as posting negative and false info about me!

Mistakes = Knowledge Points - If you learn from it
