Hi Guys,
sorry if this is an old issue, but I just recently came across this situation..
I registered domain name and went and got [email protected] in google apps as it used to be a free service.. Now I got a notice from google that If I don't put my billing information , after 30 days the account will be suspended..
I contacted them and they said that apparently since 2012 it wasn't free anymore, but 5$ PER USER / Month.
even if you just want to use the inbox and none of the extra stuff in their "communication" package.
If you had your email before the 2012 cut off date, it will remain free for now.
If you do get [email protected] it will remain free, but [email protected] chargeable.

I contacted Godaddy as they used to offer email service and so-on when you registered a name, was told they are scrapping the free email also for a 5$ a month chargeable version.

- did anyone find a free service online to have [email protected] or have a suggestion besides paying the 5$ / month per email per user ** one that seem to still be free is called ZOHO

- this would mean alot of @gmail.com which we would consider as junk more often than not when it was supposedly from a company may actually be legit as I'm sure many companies with alot of users will not pay 1000-2000$ a year just to have email

Somebody mentioned zoho.com in another thread. They seem to offer it with 5gb/user for up to 10 users for free.

Oh, now I see. So is there a reason zoho does not serve your purpose?

If you have a hosting account you can add email there, should not cost extra. Probably you can also do this with free hosting services like 000webhost.

Zoho definitely will let you use 1 domain free, possibly with up to 10 addresses on that domain, but the stuff about additional users or additional domains on paid plans is a bit unclear - can't see any limit on how many domains you can add on a paid account, just users - which they define as mailboxes, where multiple people can use the same mailbox.

How does the '/user' pricing work? Is it the same as paying '/mailbox'?
One user corresponds to one mailbox of 5, 10, 15 or 25 GB based on the base plan you choose. However, a user can have many email or domain aliases (ie. different email addresses), with all emails accumulated in the exclusive mailbox assigned to the user

chart spells out what you don't get on the free account.
