Congratulations, but don't keep testing your luck! Those things rarely let you win.

Ah.. I just like to play... extra money but the play's the thing! :)

BTW- I've won big on this type of machine 4-5 times in the past.. I alternate between Lucky Leprechaun and Royal Reels.

Nice...I love those days...

I lived in LV for 1+ years...I actually liked to play the penny slots...don't be fooled though, I would put out $2.50 per spin...But when you max bet, your odds are improved...

My biggest wins were $1450+ on a major jackpot on millioniser and $1575 on bonus wins on i.c. money...pennies... :hehe:

Just so I don't give the impression this is easy.. before these two wins I'd gone to the casino and lost $140 the week before.. you win some, you lose some! :)

Saturday, a woman playing the same game I was playing (but for $5 a spin) won $22,000.. now, that would've been nice! I don't play at that level very often or for very long... $2.50 a spin is usually my limit, tho I generally stick to 50 cents or $1.25.

When I was a poker dealer at Harrah's NKC and the poker room was downstairs (this is back in 94-97) there was a Balzing 7's machine right by the room that I watched hit every single night or the $750 Triple 7's. It paid out like clockwork and one little old lady played that thing every Friday and Saturday* night and won that $750 several times a month.

*Regular gamblers actually have favorite machines that they will fight over. I have witnessed more then a few fights over machines, one of which included a stabbing with a kitchen steak knife.

I have my "favorites" as well.. there just seem to be certain machines that pay out better or in certain ways..

I've heard so many rumors and myths about beating machines...

1) the 99.X% return is amortized out over 20 years
2) each time you put in fresh money, it resets the odds
3) max bets = better odds
4) playing late late night pays better

Does anyone else have any rumors or myths to add to these?

Nice job, Dave. Gambling is a great hobby and really good to get addicted to!

Agreed. I used to watch this one dude play "Fountain City Fortune" which was a $1 slot but required $5 play in order to win the progressive jackpot. Sometimes it would get up over $10K and be worth it but generally it was better to play the .25 cent machines on the bank right behind it where max play was $1.25 (5 way machine) and had payouts upwards of $10,000 and which hit quite often.

1) There may be as few as 1 98% return machine to an entire bank of machines.

2) I don't think this is true... each spin regardless has an equal chance of winning or losing.

3) The higher the denomination, supposedly pays off more often as they want to encourage you to keep playing. Not to say, the wins will equal or outpace the losses.

4) Sometimes this seems to be true.. I've been sitting at a bank of machines for hours before they will start to hit.. and you can often walk into a casino and tell which machines seem to be hitting and which aren't by the number of players in front of them. If a bank of slots is running cold, you won't see anyone in front of them.
