Adsense tell me that "adsense for mobile" is officially in beta..

As part of our efforts to develop new and improved AdSense products for our partners, we will begin a limited beta test for AdSense for mobile. AdSense for mobile allows publishers to monetize their mobile websites through the placement of targeted text ads. Publishers can take advantage of the fast-growing mobile advertising market and benefit from our targeting technology

Excellent tip Badger, thank you! Could you post the link for us to find out more? This sounds like a potentially important development. Do they mention the .mobi extension anywhere?

I've been dreaming this would happen for literally months now! Current solutions are useless for someone who wants to serve ads related specifically to their content. Nothing better for revenue and user experience than ads which actually help the visitor find what they're looking for. If someone comes to my site, they're probably looking for antioxidant information or products... Current solutions would have me showing them ads for mobile porn, web design, cell phone games,... All things which 99% of my visitors are not looking for. Now I'll be able to show ads to relevant sites which will actually enhance the experience of my visitors and benefit me directly through higher CTR and PPC. Talk about a win-win situation :tu:

What would be really cool is if they could not only show ads based on content but also on location (like you browse the mobile web for some product and get ads from shops nearby).

I would imagine that will be implemented at some point. It would greatly increase Google's ability to get huge advertising budgets from local businesses, not to mention dramatically increase the competitiveness and value of keywords like pizza.

It is coming. We at MADSNET are also trying to implement that feature. It should be available as soon as some infrastructure is in place.

Stay tuned.

We don't need mobile webs. Why Google introduced this format of ads? We don't need them, we already have normal adsense ads and my "iPhone" can browse full blown websites. St***d Google.

YOU may not need it, but some other folks may want/need it.

I'm sure many people said how the internet marketing was silly before it took off....

Whats stupid is your perspective ;)

Not many people use an iPhone (or ever will)...remember ,there are thousands of other mobile devices out there...all of them access mobile websites better when its simply just text, which is what Google is doing.

Awaits the announcement of YPN & MSN AdCenter for Mobiles :)

Seriously though, I'm actually shocked that Google didn't have mobile ads up and running long ago...they are usually very quick, especially when advertising is concerned.

This is encouraging. Google has placed enormous resources into the mobile space and monetization will fuel further R&D as well as investor resources into this very promising medium. Good post... Badger. ;)
