I am in love with Namecheap.

I have hundreds of domains at GoDaddy and am slowly transferring them over to Namecheap.

Namecheap is faster, easier to checkout at, and they run cool contests, like the one that got me hooked last Christmas during their Twitter contest.

My domains from last Christmas are up for renewal, which is why I took a closer look at them.

No, I'm not a paid endorser. I'm just a domainer who has fallen in love with someone new. Sorry, GoDaddy. I'm filing for divorce.

Discount code on transfers to Namecheap: SWITCH2NC

Enjoy! :tu:

Even I prefer name.com. Everytime saves a dollar.

The only problem I've ever had with GoDaddy is their lack of effort to counter domain scamming tactics. Other than that they havn't done me wrong. I will check out NameCheap though, thanks for the suggestion.

I was in love with NameCheap until Google Checkout rejected my VALID fully working credit card to pay for a $10 renewal, then Namecheap locked me out of my account and served me with a $30 fine because according to them I had "affected their credit rating".

Whatever, end result was that I made a thread at Webhostingtalk about them and a NameCheap reprensetative there forfeit the charges on a technicality, as the credit card had been accepted then rejected in 5 seconds. Otherwise he was addamant the charges/fine should stay.

Result, I moved all my domain names out of NameCheap.

Check their terms and conditions, if Google Checkout rejects your credit card they can fine you up to $100, which to me is a load of rubbish because if the CREDIT CARD IS VALID and THEY reject it OUT OF THEIR OWN FREE WILL then I dont see why I should pay a damn fine. I am not taking any risks.

My 2 cents

I'm with you Brad. I've only been fined once for a whois complaint (which wasn't justified). I got the money back from the complainant when I sold him the domain. Well within any hold budget. Domains x Years = 15,000-20,000 (domain years). Also the best Control Panel out there, imho.

Also. Renewal at GoDaddy circa $7. At NameCheap $9.69. You do the math. I have nothing against NameCheap. I like them but I can get renewals at Name.com for $7.50.

I know the girl that created and ran that contest

i've liked namecheap for years, however their prices are not really that competitive. make sure you at least contact them to get a bulk buyer discount code. if you have so many domains they offer it. otherwise $9.69 for .com is a little ridiculous

What are the price of renewals with the bulk buyer discount code? How many domains do you need to obtain it?

i dont know about the number of domains, i think they do it on a case by case basis, just email them to ask and they will review your account, but i pay $8.89 renewals

Any little bit helps. But that's still uncompetitive with GoDaddy or Name.com (negotiated rate).

I have couple of domains with Namecheap, along with $6.99 transfer they offer free privacy for first year, but their renewal fee is high compare with GD and charges extra for privacy. I prefer to keep my domains with GD. Those domains needs privacy setting, I'm moving them to Name.com, along with their transfer/renewal you will get privacy option without additional charges.

I havent ever used Godaddy or NameCheap, always used Name.com and the only reason was that i dont have a verified Paypal account. Its not like i dont have a mastercard, but seems like Paypal has some problems with linking my Bank's card :(

I am using both and satisfied with them, I think namecheap has good interface though

I think godaddy is the cheapest hosting service. I am not agree with namecheap hosting.

Depends on what you want in the first place. Faster interface or lower cost. Sorry but namecheap isn't exactly cheap at all because using godaddy renewal codes greatly reduces the amount that need to pay.

NC is more expensive and have done away with phone support as well. I used to have a lot of domains with them...only 8 left there now.
Most of mine are at Moniker.

I know how you feel But with SO many names ever thought of getting a reseller account and renewing/transferring to it at wholesale rates.

I have 4 names with GD (and hate it They suck)
0 with NameCheap (and GLAD i don't THEY SUCK )
88 with Domainsite (Only Registrar that I have found really helpful, Mainly $2.99 info's . .89 cents at GD is STILL NOT Cheap enough to use GD)
300 @ 4 different resellers of my own.

(And no I don't mean some crap WWD/eNOM/Directi Account that expect you to pre-load some account balance , I mean one that actually has cheap prices and let's you use paypal/credit card as you need to)

Plus with Admin bankend access and API's any checkout/usage issues are a moot point.

Really with a few names at NameCheap/GD/eNOM/WTF I can understand not having your own reselleraccount, but buying Hundreds using their Stupid Checkout procedures and mindless rules on CC/Paypal use why would anyone still use them.

I've heard name cheap is pretty good along with many other domain resellers, but Godaddy is doing well for a reason. They offer good service and pretty easy checkout, basically they are all in one and they offer discounts as well.

I've been slowly consolidating my domains at GoDaddy. The bottom line is cost (hard to find anyone else who is consistently cheaper) and customer service (always able to get someone via phone). An additional benefit is that when I sell a domain, buyers are more comfortable with opening a GoDaddy.com account to accept the domain transfer.

...where's the Cheap?

Good point about buyers liking Godaddy.
I tend to waste time bouncing between 3 or 4 reg's. Name.com is a great alternative, I'll agree with that poster also.
NameCheap is OK, but where's the Cheap?

Who is their celebrity spoksman?

I just renewed a few, cost with separate WhoisGuard Renewal, a bit under $13

Shady types prefer namecheap's disinterest in enforcing petty regs, I hear google uses violation claims as an excuse to charge hefty administrative fees.
