GoDaddy Raised Auction Fees? Seller Fees: 15% ($5 minimum)

Was just cleaning up my bookmarks and had the GoDaddy Auctions Pricing page bookmarked - https://auctions.godaddy.com/trpPricing.aspx

Seller Fees: 15% ($5 minimum) - is that new?

But it used to be 5% for something and I think 7%? for something else. Checking the last few domains I've sold thru GoDaddy Auctions and they deducted 5%.

Ok, looks like they did. I went to List a domain and see this new box to check off:

"I have read and agree to the new pricing structure for Go Daddy Auctions®."

So they went from 5% to 15%, quite a jump. I know Bido charges 10%.

They're in a dominant position. They can do this and get away with it. Just remember to add it to your asking price. It would have been nice if they had told somebody though.

Godaddy Raise Fees

I just got an email from a domain newsletter saying godaddy raised its auction sales fee from 5% to 15%.

I have today sold a domain for 2.5k for fixed price at Godaddy before i heard this news and its charging me $175 at escrow.com from what i can tell.

Basically i would not want to sell this domain at this price if im paying 15%, i wonder if they got this right, or if i escaped this 15% today, or if im going to get a check from escrow minus another whatever percentage Godady want now of my sale price?

So dose this sound right, $175 out of 2.5k on a godaddy sale through escrow?

I agree, looks like i got lucky but if i was sneakily charged the 15% i would NOT be happy here.

Godaddy BS strikes again.

$175 for $2.5k is correct, it is 7%.

15%? You gotta be kidding me. Its true that they are in a dominant position but what happened to market competition?

yeah, i had a name go for 5k, and I got a check for 3,500.

That would be 30% given to someone if those numbers are correct.

Somehow I don't think so.

%15 is far too much. Sedo charges %10. There is no reason anymore to use godaddy. I kept domains at godaddy that I bought at their auctions and listed them there as well. But now I will be moving away all my godaddy domains elsewhere.

I think the godaddy people are stupid to rise their commissions %50 higher than the industry rate. Extra services provided by registrars support their core business but if they get those services wrong their main business will suffer. Short sighted stupid people.

Yes it is, its the godaddy Premium Listing rate.

Alright, just went back down to something decent, 10%, $5 minimum:

Annual Membership: $4.99
Seller Fees: 10% ($5 minimum)
Buyer Fee: None*
Basic Listing: Free!

i can live with 30% premium because i can raise the price but anything else seems too much

who is using godaddy anyway for auction ? if you have a good domain you wouldn't use them

I am and so are some of the biggest domainers. Another place to get some eyeballs, throw another line in the water. You can set your good domain to whatever price you want.

Is the rate the same for push to auction setup for godaddy or they charge a higher commission?

Same. They also pay out faster now, about time. It's now like 5 days.

cool.. thanks JB Lions.. seems Godaddy has better rates for lower priced domains than Sedo.. Sedo gets a minimum of $50..
