Is there something wrong with their system, or am I just not reading it right?

I wanted a name that Snapnames says expires this month.
However, checking the Whois shows that the name is actually expiring next year in March.

What does this mean? Glitch in Snapnames?

Also, how come there are so many names in Snapnames that have release dates from last year? The release dates of some names is listed as, say, January 2006, even though the names are registered and parked.

Can somebody elaborate? I'm just beginning to backorder/bid on expired names and this is kinda confusing to me...

Look at who the holder of the domain is if it is a registrar then the domain will still drop on the date in the snapnames system. This is what I have found in the past anyway.

I checked, but the domains are held by individuals, not Network Solutions of Snapnames

But again...why are already registered names that dropped some time ago still available for pre order?

okay..
here's an example:

Corporates.org shows up with the release date as 6 April 2006, and it is available to backorder.

How is that possible?

I sent an email to snap about this and there is something wrong with there system. They said that domains that go pending delete etc but get renewed in the meantime, there system is not picking that back up as it normally did.

So I would say there Whois check is not working as if the domain is renewed, it should show 2008 etc instead of 2007

it could be a portfolio seller. Im selling my names on snapnames and they make you transfer/renew them so my names will show up in the listing as auction date starting aug 8th, but not expire until next year.
