What does this mean?
And are the offers usually worth my while?

Dear ME,

A GoDaddy.com customer has an immediate interest in your domain name! You are being contacted because your email address is listed as the registrant/administrative contact for =.com.

On behalf of our client, we are prepared to make an offer for =.com. However, before we can do that, we need to know if you are interested in selling =.com. If you would, please reply to this email and let us know the status of =.com and the availability of its sale.

Should you decide to entertain an offer, we will email the offer amount along with further information on how to continue the GoDaddy.com Domain Buy Process. At no point will you be required to accept our client's offer or sell your domain name.

The GoDaddy.com Domain Buy Service provides a safe and secure method for interested parties to purchase currently owned domain names. For more information about the GoDaddy.com Domain Buy Service please click here.

I'd suggest to contact GD immediately and ask them whether they sent out the mail. I haven't come accross GD sending out emails to inquire.

Did you cut off the contact information at the bottom? I think that would be the biggest tell. If the contact info is legitimate Godaddy info, then it is probably legit, if they just say "reply" or "click here", then probably not. Did the email come from [email protected]?

If GoDaddy confirms its legit then its your lucky day because in all likelyhood its an end-user with a serious interest in your name. They've already paid $59.99 for GoDaddy's buy service - without any indication that the name is even for sale.

This is legitimate. It means a Godaddy customer spent approximately $65 to have Godaddy contact you to try and buy the domain name. When you respond, they will lowball you an offer. Be prepared to counter high and hope that whoever paid for Godaddy to contact you, has some resources.

I would think someone would want to use this service to make it look more creditable when buying a domain name. Also, to get some help with the process or for people that don't have time or just not good at that type of stuff. In my opinion its a rip off but it goes for some people.

OP: I'm pretty sure the email is real. Good luck with your domain!

got 1 last week, godaddy is popular among end users as they advertise quite a bit and most are not familiar with aftermarkets and would prefer to just pay their registrar they are familiar with to try to get the name for them, other registrars send out certified offers as well, I have received a few of these certified offers in the past.
