Its a buyout as Bob will no longer be the majority owner and will phase out of the CEO position (thats code for stick around for a while Bob so the transition goes smooth)

What often happens in these things is that the CEO, after selling the business and staying on, has a fallout on the direction of the company with the owners, quits, then the business goes to crap and or is floated on the NYSE in which its flogged off to investors (suckers) at a crazy IPO price netting the private equity owners many $$$$$.

Ive seen this movie before many times.

Like I said in another thread, I hope Godaddy does not change dramatically and still keeps its competitive pricing.

They are estimated to make over 1$ billion in revenue, and I would be interested to see how much of that would be profit.

Great, there goes buying cheap domains.

I bet no more $7.49 coupons.

My understanding is they chipped in the last fifty million to cover the cost of elephant tusks.

GD's pricing is the only reason to do business with them.

If the buyers don't recognize that "cheap" is GD's entire business model, then they deserve to starve.

I tend to believe the WSJ but if Parsons says their wrong then Ill believe Bob lol There also the possibilities of exercising options in the future that are easy to not tell the common folks now.

"Looks like Parsons bagged an elephant" lol

Well..if they go to crap it's always easy to just transfer names out of there :)

Looks to be a nice sale for Bob Parsons or whatever his name is lol

Without their cheap pricing, GD is just another registrar. The buyers had better realize that.

This is confusing. Parsons owned 78% before. How much does he own now. How much is KKR et al share now. And finally how much did they pay for their share? (I doubt it was anywhere close to $2B)

GoDaddy.com says sale won't affect sponsoring Danica Patrick's racing career. Thats a big relief

Domains have never been Bobs focus, it has always been about the software/add ons.

Peace,

Hope KKR & Co used a promo code 30% off the total order ;P

Perhaps but remove their perpetual 20-30% off codes & the $1 codes they throw out every now and then & GD would be just another registrar. ppl only really use GD for their cheapness.

"ppl only really use GD for their cheapness."

That's a good thing since I buy domains :) Oh, and the auctions like those. And that I never had any issues with them. And my account rep is nice.

"How will this affect your domain business?"

Probably not. I see some people getting all worried about this type of thing. Either things will pretty much stay the same, great. Or things will improve here and there, also great. Or things might get worse and if so, then just stop, drop and roll with it. Not a big deal. As a business you adapt with whatever comes up. I doubt much will change at all.

I actually like GoDaddy a lot. Great CP. Lousy checkout. But I'm in the process of moving my domains to Dynadot. I would have continued to use GoDaddy if they had removed their restriction on whois lookups.
