SCOTTSDALE, Ariz.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--GoDaddy.com® is proud to be the presenting sponsor for next month’s Indianapolis 500® broadcast. The deal launches Go Daddy® into the “Super Bowl® of racing” and provides Go Daddy branding on everything from broadcast segments to aerial and in-car views.

The world’s top domain name registrar is known for its “racy” Super Bowl commercials and moved into Indy racing last year when its outspoken CEO invited racing superstar Danica Patrick to become a company spokesperson and official “Go Daddy Girl.”

“I’m excited to be a Go Daddy Girl. I’m happy Go Daddy stepped up to be the presenting Indy 500 broadcast sponsor this year,” said Patrick. “It’s good for our sport to have a world leader, like Go Daddy, involved in such a high-profile way.”

Patrick made history at Indy two years ago when she became the first-ever woman to lead the legendary race, leading the other drivers for 19 laps. This year the Indianapolis 500 field could include a record three female drivers, along with four past winners and the top 11 finishers from last year’s race.

Go Daddy CEO and Founder Bob Parsons said Patrick represents both IndyCar® racing and Go Daddy well in this race, “I love watching Danica drive – she’s fun, fast and edgy. She’s GoDaddy-esque.”

Patrick’s star shines off the track too. Just last week, she was voted “Sexiest Female Athlete” for 2007 by Victoria Secret®.

Go Daddy is considered a star of “sexy marketing” campaigns, but is about much more than its racy selling savvy. Parsons’ company has close to four million customers and 20 million domains in its portfolio. Go Daddy now registers, renews or transfers a Web site name every 1.3 seconds and is two-and-a-half times the size of its closest competitor. It’s also the world’s leading SSL hosting company, providing security for Web sites.

Patrick races for Andretti Green Racing, the winningest team in Indy Racing League history. “Danica has a passion to be the best, like Go Daddy,” said Parsons.

She is one of an impressive team of Go Daddy Girls, including motorcycle drag-racing standout Valerie Thompson and the original Go Daddy Girl, WWE Raw® Diva Candice Michelle, who stars in many Go Daddy ads, including the controversial 2005 Super Bowl commercial.

You can watch “The Indianapolis 500 broadcast presented by GoDaddy.com” on Sunday, May 27 at 1 p.m. EDT live on ABC® TV. Go Daddy will also be the presenting sponsor for the Indy 500 Qualifying and Bump Day television broadcasts on ESPN2®, beginning May 12.

Volume & popularity does not always equal best quality... McDonald's sells the most hamburgers...

I have nothing against GoDaddy, but I am finding I prefer dealing with a registrar that spends resource$ on improving its infrastructure and customer service rather than establishing a public image.

Which, in their defense, is why they are making money. Domainers scrap for every penny to make as much profit as possible. Most Johns wont bother looking for discount codes...

Consider the profit margin, they make so much more per domain on a regular joe than on a saavy domainer. I cant say I blame them at all.

I'd like to speak with the GD marketing people. I'd be surprised of GD ever broke even on their two super bowl commercials. Likewise, I'd be surprised if GD will ever break even on the Indy 500 marketing.

To me, GD spends money on marketing recklessly. Of course, I'd like to think Bob and company are smart enough to calculate their break even points and only spend when they know it is profitable to do so.

Just FYI Fonzie, on the first SuperBowl they did. Fox Pulled a 2nd ad that was supposed to air at the last minute. Guess what happened? I'll give you a hint, they didnt need to take it to court.

GoDaddy.com and Fox Sports had reached an agreement in principle to settle our differences resulting from Fox's decision not to air our ad the second time.
