Hey Godaddy has charged me an enormous amount of money for domains that i was going to let expire, they did not contact me before billing me and as i have been busy lately did not know that they where on auto-renew.

They have billed me for about 30 .mobi domains charging me over $20 each for them, this seems like a lot as well as i renewed all the ones i wanted to keep about a month ago for half that price.

How can i cancel the order and receive a refund?

Thanks

auto-renew

Call the customer service number; maybe they'll reimburse you. I have discovered that it pays to be nice to the customer service reps--they just work there, but they will go to bat for you if you're decent about your problem.

Every time you buy a domain, it goes on auto-renew, so just remember to turn it off.

I like to manually renew because I can save money that way. I just come here or on the various coupon sites and get coupons.

Some of GD's business practices are suspect, and, someday, they'll get slapped or sued, but for now, we all need to tread carefully on their site and avoid stepping into those "buy me" traps.

I noticed my names that were set on auto renew (1yr) were renewing for two years also. I checked, and saw they were all reading 2 years on auto renew, even .com's, .nets etc. that I've had for years were all set to 2 years instead of the 1 year I had them on. I think that when they redid their site, they reset auto renews (maybe everyones??) all to 2 years, which I think is an underhanded ploy to extract higher reg fees on the unsuspecting. I'd like to think this was not the case, but I know a lot of my names were set to 1 year renewals before!!

It may be wise to look into one's auto renew names and their lengths for renewal.

The ones I had set to auto renew - were still set
and the ones I had to not auto renew were not changed.
I've never seen the preset for the 1 year though,
I thought 2 was the default?

When were the renewals done on your card?

As far as the refund goes, have you contacted support?
and is there not a way to cancel it at your creditcard?
That might be faster, provided your not keeping any of the
names included in the billing.

Another reason why GoDaddy ROCKS and shows their professionalism and the best place for Domainers to use!

...NOT!

Godaddy is pretty nice when it comes to taking care of their customers, they've given me refunds before when it wasn't even completely warranted. Just explain the situation calmly and hopefully they'll refund you. Ultimately it is your responsibility to manage your domains and make sure the auto-renew is only set up on the ones you want it to be on.

I don't understand why you asked us three times if they'll refund your money, just ask Godaddy and you'll have your answer.

God forbid they auto-renew domains that are set on auto-renew... what a terrible company!

As the Op stated in his first post, he never knew/checked if the
auto renew was on/off

Godaddy doesn't guess what you want to do with your domains,
nor will they contact you if you have something on auto-renew
that's why we have our own account management systems,
to change what needs to be changed - as per "What we want"
to happen to our domains.

Ok, I was referring to if they up-ed it to 2 yrs/turned on, if he already had them set, its fine.

Im not blaming Godaddy for what has happened as it was my fault i didnt check if auto-renew was turned off or not although i would have appreciated an e-mail maybe the day before telling me that they will be charging my account for the specified domains.
Thus giving me ample opportunity to turn the auto-renew off.

I am going to check the status of my names now!
I would def. contact your CC company,or even your bank,if that is the case.Just tell them that the charges were not authorized.

This may cause them to lose their names altogether (as the renewal will no longer be paid for), so be careful about doing this.

That is true.I just thought that they said they were going to let the names expire,so that is why I told them to dispute the charges.But...if you want the names, then do not dispute the charges.
