Hallo,

I need to add private registration to a .net domain registered few days ago (godaddy). I don't like the idea to pay $8.99 for that. Is there any way to get discount?

thanks

You could of course also opt not to have private registration..... Which is probably what I would recommend. For the price, just not worth it. Or, join DNOA.org for $5 bucks and use their privacy...

Free Private Whois reg

I don't know about .Net but whenever you register five or more .Coms you can have Private Whois for free. You have to check the radio buttons and say you want it - they don't automatically give it to you.

I thought that it was 3 or more domains. Did Godaddy raise it to 5 now?

It's five. And don't forget to add it to your cart when you checkout!

GD renewal of private whois is not cheap. If you are expecting to keep a name for more than 1 year then it is probably cheaper to go with namecheap. The GD 'reg five and get private whois free' is a come-on and also if you strip it off and change the admin whois then you are locked into the 60-day cannot transfer mode.
Bottom line: avoid GD if you need privacy whois.

At Moniker .net is only $5.49 and privacy is only $1.

NameCheap is what I use if I want privacy. Also, I believe ICANN allows you to use your position title in your company as the registrant contact, so if you were to set up a reliable email forwarder strictly for your domain, you could basically get privacy for free.

If you want "real" privacy, consider NameCheap, as they give it away for free. If you register more names later, you got a new WhoisGuard subscription, which is transferable. :tu:
