Guys..

Godaddy are offering the private registration for free...
So should i take it, i don't really need it (since i love spam),
I have never regged a domain under private registration... but are there any disadvantages to it ?
Like can it be pushed to other accounts like normal when i sell it , or there could be complications ?

Would appreciate some thoughts !

The biggest advantage or benefit to using a privacy service for your domain
name is...well...for your privacy. :D

One drawback is when trying to transfer the domain to another account in the
same registrar or to another registrar. The transfer request might not be sent
or routed to the actual email inside the registration record.

I've seen cases especially when people are transferring their domain names to
another registrar, but they got denied simply because of that privacy thingie.

And another reason I've stopped using most privacy services is the fact that a great many offers for domains are sent through whois-contact info, and I see no reason to make that any harder to get ;)
True, I get a few hundred offers a day to send my "non-profit" message about my email to 100,000 people..., but the 1 or 2 real messages that come through make it all worthwhile ;)

Personally I keep all my info public, yes the spam can be annoying ..... But that will come from anywhere anyway :)

For example, within a couple of days of registering my company I had an snal mail letter from a company offering to set me up with a simple web page with my details, they offered to register domains that were relevant to my companies name at the bargain price of around ยฃ30 a year ... I think they were just checking new company registrations without looking at what the companies did.

It is nice if someone is looking to buy a domain from you that all the information about you is freely available, so they know you are not trying to hide anything.

All the best.

I always keep mine in - it's another potential way for endusers to find you and it might even save you a 10% commission :)

I quite often put "Domain For Sale" in mine - no idea if its allowed or not ?? :-/
