I went to purchase a domain this morning at GD but had to leave the house before checking out. I then went on my laptop and did a seach about 5 min later to reg it and it tried to charge me $59.99 for the domain when it wasn't even regged yet-

Domain Buy Service
Just $59.99 per domain name + commission*

Our Professional Domain Buy Service provides personal Domain Agents who will:

* Complete a Certified Appraisal within 2 business days of service purchase.
* Attempt to contact current domain owner, to determine interest in selling their domain.
* Negotiate the sales price of your desired domain (if the owner is willing to sell their domain)
* Help facilitate the sales transaction (if a sales agreement is reached).
-------------------

I then went back inside with my truck idling and wasting ga$$$ and finished purchasing it there.

Weird, so I wonder how long it 'holds' it and tried to charge $59 before it releases it or do they taste it after that?

Godaddy doesnt front run - atleast, not until now (if this is true). However, I think more than likely it was human error, you might have accidentally selected this instead of the registration - thats all I can think of.

I hope it was an error on my part. I will try and duplicate tomorrow morning.

Bob Parsons himself said they don't front run. :)

check the Whois of the domain and see if the registrar is GD. If the name is registered by some others registrar then, we can ssay that GD does not front run, otherwise, it is hard to convince. report to ICANN, since ICANN previously have no proof of any registrar doing front running.

NEVER check domain availability until ready to register immediately.

I don't suspect GoDaddy of front running.. more likely an option was checked or some error ocurred.

if you're searching for domains have your credit card in hand. It doesn't matter what anyone says they do or don't do, this business is full of lying sleazebags.

I just registered a domain name a few days ago from GoDaddy and I didn't have any trouble like you did, so maybe its like what the others said and you could have possibly made a error and accidentally selected an unwanted option. :P

GoDaddy does not do this kind of absurdity. People give them way too much slack. They are a great registrar for the most part.

Tried to duplicate today and it didn't do it. Just a glich maybe (I think glitch over human error as I do this process with GD many times in a week). But the wife was yelling at me to get the boy to school so who knows lol- stress=errors

Was weird, it must have thought the domain had been regged when it was sitting on the payment page on my downstairs computer. One thing I forgot to mention is when I ran back downstairs I entered a coupon code then when it refreshed it showed a 59 charge there as well but I just 'removed it' and payed for my $7 domain.

weird...

This is not the Registration Service. This is the Brokering service where you make an offer on previously regged domains. You must have been confused and clicked on the wrong link.
