This special beta test lets you give Gmail, Google's webmail service, to every user at your domain. Gmail for your domain is hosted by Google, so there's no hardware or software for you to install or maintain.

Gmail - 2 gigabytes of storage and search tools that help users find information fast.

Control Panel - Easily manage user accounts, aliases and mailing lists.

Want to be part of this beta test?
Gmail for your domain is currently available as a limited beta. If your organization is interested in helping Google test this service, we'll consider your domain for this beta. You'll need to sign in with a Google Account (or get a new one), and answer a few quick questions about your organization and your email needs.

Very interesting indeed.
I wonder where is Google getting their hard drive from? ;)

I am guessing that unless you have a few thousand email accounts/employees you wont get into the beta. Would be nice if it would allow us to use our adsense ads... ;p

Nah that would do no good since you wouldnt be allowed to click the ads if you found them interesting....

Thanks for your interest in beta testing Gmail for your domain.

During the beta tester selection process, we carefully review everyone's information to ensure a good fit for us, and for you.

There's been a lot of interest in this service, so we can't guarantee that we'll be able to respond to every inquiry. But stay tuned... we'll definitely let you know if you've been selected to be one of our beta testers.

Thanks,

The Gmail Team

I got accepted as well..

I'm finding the setup a little confusing tho. My domain is registered thru GoDaddy and you can't change the MX records unless the domain uses the GoDaddy nameservers (unless I'm misunderstanding something).

I changed the MX records for the email but have no idea how to direct the domain to my server for everything else.

I'm pretty sure you just change the MX records in cPanel. The GoDaddy thing is for just email I think.

Do I need a domain name exclusively for this service?
Or can I use it with my existing domain name ( www.pallab.net ) i.e. can I use the same domain name both for this service as well as my blog?

Google has the most computing power in the world.

They started off by getting old computers, stripping them down to just their raw basics and harnessed the power using clever networking. That's how they manage to pull off the type of thing no other company can, by spreading jobs over millions of stacked computers at once.

Obviously these days they've upgraded from old used computer parts, but the principle is the same. I'm not sure how many data centres they've got, but they're basically giant warehouses of RAM and processors linked up.

Sorry, i'm a Google fan. ;)

I still didn't get an invitation. I just use Microsoft's version now.

www.domains.live.com

No invite required. I still am trying to figure out how to keep my site though at the same time while using their email.

just use any mx record they have usually use the first one and set it up though it's still in infancy beta test mode they can't offer cname so you still will use something like this:
https://www.google.com/hosted/documenthaven.com
for login for your users and up 100 users only.
