Lately I’ve been going back and forth on whether to list more of my domains back on GoDaddy and Afternic. Truth is, I’ve had a rough time dealing with GoDaddy’s brokers — and I mean rough. They either don’t follow up, totally miss the tone of the negotiation, or flat-out kill the vibe with potential buyers. It’s frustrating when you know a name has value and some broker drops the ball for no reason.

But here’s where I’m stuck. Even though I’m not a fan of the way they handle brokerage, it’s hard to ignore the sheer reach they have. Domains listed with BIN pricing on GoDaddy and Afternic show up across a huge network — we’re talking 100+ registrars. That means a buyer could be searching from Namecheap, Dynadot, Hover, wherever — and your domain pops up in front of them with a Buy Now button. That exposure is real. And if you price something right, especially a lower-tier name, maybe they just click and buy. No back and forth, no negotiating, no broker needed.

Sounds great in theory.

The problem is Fast Transfer. I just don’t trust it.

I know people say it boosts visibility, but I’m not willing to hand over control of my domain portfolio to a system that’s already shown signs of breaking. There are real cases — and I don’t mean rumors — where names got sold and paid out to previous owners who somehow were still connected to the domain in GoDaddy’s backend. Andrew Rosner even brought this up, and from what I’ve heard, the company is finally starting to look into it more seriously.

But still, that’s scary stuff.

I’m not trying to gamble my inventory so someone can get a slightly easier checkout experience. I’ve worked too hard for that. I don’t want to wake up one morning and find out a name got pushed and I’m chasing GoDaddy to figure out what happened.

So I’m leaning toward listing a lot of my <$2K names with BIN pricing — but without Fast Transfer. That way I still get the benefit of GoDaddy’s exposure, but with a little more control over what happens when a sale actually goes through. I’m not trying to make things complicated for buyers — just trying to make sure the sale is clean, and that I don’t have to rely on brokers who don’t seem to care.

Curious what others here are doing. Have you had any Fast Transfer issues? Do you actually get more sales through Afternic BIN vs other platforms? I’m just trying to find that balance between reach and risk — and figure out where this whole machine actually helps instead of hurts.

If you’ve been through it, I’d love to hear your experience.
