So I'm just starting to put PHP in my webpages ... and when I preview the webpages w/Dreamweaver 4 the PHP stuff doesn't work. If I upload it to my webhost and goto the page it works fine. What do I need to get my PHP code to work locally? Is there a Dreamweaver 4 extension for this? Thanks!

Rep for help!

You have to have PHP installed on your computer. I run XAMPP locally and it works great as an all in one resource.

I'll have to check it out ... that link is dead, though. I'll just search for it. Thanks!

I edited the link. It should work now. Hope its al alternative solution for you. Make sure you place the files in the htdocs folder.

Either use http://localhost/ or http://127.0.0.1 to access your files once they are in the folder.

Another dumb question ... where's the htdocs folder? I don't see it off Dreamweaver 4 or my local website directories.

It depends on where you installed xampp. I installed it to my C:\, so it appears as C:\xampp\htdocs\

If you're not sure where you installed it, do a file search and include folders.

By default apache is installed in C:/Program Files/Apache HTTP Server/
you can find the htdocs folder in there. Also make sure you have PHP and the .htaccess file setup right. http://www.php-mysql-tutorial.com has a great article on how to set it all up.
