Getting Caught

hey all,

I know that registrars have a slack system that stops people from other countries registering country specific domains. I contacted the registry of .EU lately and asked them whet their rules are and they say that its for EU residents or companies ONLY. Ive also heard that they are going to have a very strict system on it. They also mentioned that to do anything about it the user would have to complain to the registrar and the registry cant physically do anything.

But imagine you owned a .US name and you lives in a differnt company... what would actually happen if someone told the registry about it, what would happen? Has anyone has any experiences where they have been found out?

- Luke :)

.us is lenient, .eu is much more strict.

well, it is very easy to get around this. You simply register a company in an EU country...

I believe .EU registration will have strict verification measures to stop false data.

Alot of people get away with it though. I get away with it all the time. I feel a little guilty since it's against the bible but whatever.

...

Uhh... we're talking about the same thing right?

To be safe, you need to find a person in the EU you can trust to register it on your behalf.

As far as getting away with it once you do get the .EU domain? Well, at the worst, you'll get the domain yanked from you, I would think. What are they gonna do, sue you? I doubt it.

Also, don't get to giddy about these .EU domains. The EU community is in shambles after starting the EU as many EU countries really lost out bigtime after converting to the EU currency. Their money system is taking a bad turn and I suspect the EU community will not be for very long. I think that within 10-20 years the whole EU thing will be a thing of the past and each country in Europe will again become it's own separate entity with their own money, just as it was before.

I believe that this whole European community will prove that globalism only benefits crooked, greedy globalists, not the individual. European countries have been suckered into the EU community thing pretty badly. They will learn the hard way.

Therefore, .EU domains will be short lived. JMO.
