Hi there my names Keryn, I am fairly new to domaining and new to this forum which I have found myself referring to ALOT since becoming fascinated, or should I say - obsessed with the big beautiful domain world! I have posted things in the wrong forums, I have listed auctions wrong and I have stumbled around this forum like a definite rookie haha I'm sorry. I was wondering if anybody has luck selling domains on eBay? I have listed on Flippa, Sedo, had my own website for a little while, have posted on here and am now trying only a few listings on eBay at $1 reserve (glitter.cloud, minerecruit.org, buzz.fish and bid5.co which I won't go into detail about its not a sales post..). I have a lot of researching and learning to do but thats the joy of it all, I'm making sure I absorb every little bit of advice given and love meeting you all and watching where my sold domains and your sold domains end up too. I have some funny domains in my portfolio like what the hell was I thinking...I have some that I am sure that I hold onto for a wee while and build up my traffic will bring in a good return too but for now I'm just finding my feet and would appreciate any advice you could give me on eBay listings and what success or non-successful listings you have had through eBay...thanks in advance. K

You could have posted everything you did without mentioning the domains.

I did it so you could see my listings because my username isn't relevant on eBay and is hard to find with the use of underscores... and then could give me some sort of constructive feedback on the way iv'e listed them or if eBay is even considered a place to sell...thanks

I have always found eBay to be a waste of time.

I would focus on places like Sedo, Godaddy, Afternic, Snapnames, Namejet, Flippa etc

Thank you for your reply much appreciated. Iv'e just been doing a quick search and I am finding that what you just said to be pretty right about ebay. I'll have a look into Afternic, Snapnames and Namejet the others I have been on for a few months. I'm slow off the wagon and will take a while for me to get a good grip, I only just submitted my domains to google today. Have just been looking at the way others list their domains across various platforms too which was good to see as I realised I'm not really marketing my domains good from a basic level. Thanks for your help.

The most important thing about domaining is dont go out and register names, read, read and then read some more and once you get the hang of what sells and you understand domain a bit more, then decide on a niche and try and get names on the aftermarket, don't try and hand-register names, because the best names are gone a long time ago. Find the best keywords in the niche you like and then if your name is taken, email the owner and see if the names for sale and make an offer. Try not to scrape the bottom of the barrel for hand-regged names, you will usually end up dropping them after a year or 2, rather spend xxx or x,xxx on 2 or 3 decent names, rather than xxx or x,xxx on 50 average names...its quality over quantity in this game

Have a look at dnjournal.com and namebio.com to see recent sales, that will help see what names sell

First, in this business you don't have people coming knowing down your door for a domain. So you list it everywhere and that does not include silly spam on forums.

Now let me gie you some pointed feedback on one listing:

MINERECRUIT.ORG

User upper / lower format, MineRecruit.org

Domain name for sale at a crazy $1 reserve!!!

Don't use the word crazy

Registered with name.com and genuinely for sale by owner

"and genuinely for sale by owner" extra words, it doesn't matter and "genuinely" sounds like a big Nigerian scam.

MINERECRUIT.ORG was registered with it becoming a leading mining recruitment specialist website/agency/organisation. It does not have to be specific and could cover a wide range of areas within the industry. Even if you want to just purchase the domain name - you can guarantee that it will be pulling in sufficient revenue by collecting through paid parking and pay per click advertising because of the keyword potential!!!

You are begging for people to ask you how much it generates now, I think we all know the answer. Plus you are making a false guarantee.

It is currently parked with Sedo and was recently submitted to search engine Google, Yahoo and Bing.
I have a number of domain names for sale and do not have the time at present to develop this domain name any further but I would LOVE to see what it could become at the hands of somebody willing to invest into its future...ultimately creating your successful future too!

BS

Please do not hesitate to contact me if you have any enquiries (spelling) and do check out my other $1 reserve domain name listings to secure an exciting investment today.

Domain name push is through name.com which is free and any additional transfer costs to other registrars will be at the cost of the purchaser***

"and any additional transfer costs to other registrars will be at the cost of the purchaser*** "<--- confusing and reeks of a guilty feeling you have so you threw in some honesty

---

Honesty goes a long way, your listing reeks of a late night TV infomercial that scams old ladies out of their savings.

Thanks so much namebio is a new name for me - I've signed up for DNJournals weekly updates which are really good I just wanted to make sure I wasn't on a fairy trail and that I was sort of in the right direction in regards to domain info, buying and selling. So far - no to eBay and some great recommendations. Very grateful for your input - thank you!

Welcome to namePros n Domaining!
I would suggest as already @gilescoley did list your domain names with Afternic, Sedo, Flippa.

On namebio.com....select the drop-down list and then select 50 or All to see more sales

Remember these are sales from millions of names being registered and listed on all the platforms, so its not a lot and its not easy to sell domains, especially when you are new to it

Good luck

Jesus...go and have a coffee...or something...first things first I have no guilt. I am selling at $1 reserve for a name I spent more than $1 on. 1.) Because I am new to domaining and want to practise and perfect my business skills with ethic from the start it will take me some time to fine tune everything I already know that - and I now want to do it without advice from people who obviously slept on the wrong side of the bed . I have sold a domain name the same way on Flippa for $1 reserve and I lost out on money (username pivackernan over there too) but I provided the best service I possibly could because I am in this for the enjoyment, to provide a service of the best possible standard and to learn along the way. What are you in this business for? To troll? Well go and troll where other trolls hang because so far I've received helpful advice here and on other platforms from great people who are also in this industry for the better of the work and not to disrupt life like some bully who never got packed a nice lunch for kindy today! I have submitted my domains today (which I mentioned in my previous comments) to all search engines and I WOULD NOT MENTION IT IN AN AD OTHERWISE! By the way the screenshot of this confirmation is attached for your reference. Please don't comment further, your advice is not appreciated at all because it reaks of someone who feels that maybe in the future I could be of some sort of threat to your business. I definitely won't be though but thats how I see it because its so unnecessary. I'm just looking for advice please and I do want it as you've stated above because I can then improve on what you've said... but really...tone it down. P.S I am in NZ where 'enquiries' is spelt correctly.

Ebay can sometimes be a good place to sell domains but don't expect much from it.

Thank you. I think I have a few brandable domain names that won't fetch much or anything really which may suit eBay going by what I am reading good to see its still possible though. When I did a search today on eBay all the domains that came up were quite like the brand bucket domains with great appealing logos and fetching lower prices than prem domains. Certain places to sell certain domains Im learning. Thanks for your info. Much appreciated.

You openly admitted in your first post:

"I have posted things in the wrong forums, I have listed auctions wrong and I have stumbled around this forum like a definite rookie".

You purchased as you now know worthless domains. You are trying to unload them by all means. You think everyone is a complete fool.

You are not the first to come here and try using clever desperate methods to sell domains. When one points it out learn to not make up bigger lies.

You claimed the reason why you needed to post all those worthless domains here so people can easily find you on ebay and give you feedback.

Feedback on what?

a) Since all your listings feature the same nonsense you could have just posted one domain

b) You could have done what most honest people here do and post the email or listing text and redact the domain. Why waste peoples time going to websites for you. After all, if you really wanted advice you would do everything to get the maximum number of people to give advice, and the moment you tell people to run somewhere else to help you the replies will be very limited. Compare your spam thread with others who came here and pasted in their sales texts and redacted the domain like normal honest people do.

I know your history here, I know your type.

You post a screenshot of site submission? Is this a joke? Again explain to me what this submission does exactly? You submit a site (if it even matters in these days) when you have that site developed, you submitted a site with a for sales page on it? You know its worthless, however, you are banking on maybe some fool thinking it is worth something.

Your BIN on MineRecruit.org on the homepage is $82,000, then maybe you meant 82,000 NZ and that is 57,000 USD, a real bargain basement bin steal of a name especially if you submit it again to search engines.

The bitter truth is that with this kind of arrogance and irrational thinking, you will never learn anything in domaining. You asked for advice. Now, advice not appreciated. Rather: "advice not matching my opinion not welcome".

Best of luck.

This is getting taken out of context. That is one comment I made out the entire conversation I had with this user maybe you need to quote the entire thread. His facts were misleading and demeaning which then becomes defamation on any business. I will not stand for that just because I am a young woman new to domaining. I also quoted that I am willing to take onboard his advice because that is what I was seeking. Sorry for standing my ground.

@AEProgram

I dont think the OP was asking for anyone to go to their eBay listings (often new people post links in if they do or spam you with PM's)

I think she was just asking for some general advice on listing names on eBay and whether or not its a good platform to sell names.

I have posted things in the wrong forums, I have listed auctions wrong and I have stumbled around this forum like a definite rookie

I find this quite refreshing where people are being honest and not coming on here acting like a know-it-all and not taking advice when its given out, the OP has openly admitted to making mistakes and being a complete rookie

I know your history here, I know your type.

For someone (the OP) thats been here for a couple of months and with 33 messages, I find that a bit strange too

I certainly didn't need to go search up her names on eBay to give out some advice here. I think we need to be more welcoming to new people who are trying to learn from others who have been in the game a lot longer.

Not starting a debate about this, just stating my opinoin on it, thats all

Wow! What an eye-opener. So "genuinely" has been patented by Nigerian scammers?!

I will never use that word again:D

Wow. I missed the comment "I know your history here. I know your type" anyone can see my unsold domain names that I had (or still have because I don't know how to remove posts yet) for sale at $1 and they are ALL unsold which is obviously why I am seeking advice and trying to gain knowledge where I need to! I don't know everything I never will but at least I know when to seek advice. This is definitely a learning curve in itself. Just last night I bid on google.io on Flippa. I thought WOW $1 starting bid on such a strong name....30 minutes later this user was suspended because the "L" in google.io was actually a capital 'i'. Now if you @AEProgram think that this is the type of behaviour that I will be bringing to this industry think again! I am at just as much risk as you as a buyer or a seller within an online industry. I am sorry for offending anyone with anything I posted out of frustration but I will not be walked over by someone who feels they can lash out at me like they know me. Thank you to those who have genuinely helped with advice and support and sorry for creating such a messy post it wasn't what I intended at all.

If someone tells you the owner is genuinely looking to sell WTF does that mean? So in that context it sounds scammy, just as scammy as the site submission

So if it was Google.io for $1 (not capital i) would you buy it? Also once you own it would you submit the name to get listed in Google.com?

You are entitled to your opinion, and I will repeat again, this guy uses trickery to sell his domain on ebay and uses stale dated spam techniques on this forum.
