I owned the domain gender.org since the 00s. It was originally handled by Network Solutions and I later moved it to GoDaddy. When, around 2017, I decided to put the site up at another, less expensive location, I arranged to do so with GoDaddy. I did NOT authorize transfer of the registration. I wound up not redoing the site; later, when I visited my GoDaddy account, I was shocked and angered to see gender.org was gone. Now it's up for sale. So far as I'm concerned, I'm still the owner.

I am looking for advice. I'm in new territory here and need help. Thanks in advice.

The obvious place to start is calling godaddy support to make sure the domain didn't expire, when was the domain transferred, etc.. The next place you need to call is namecheap.

When you have a clear picture of what happened, it will inform your next action.

Whois shows gender.org was updated yesterday.

    Domain Status: pendingTransfer https://icann.org/epp#pendingTransfer
    Domain Status: renewPeriod https://icann.org/epp#renewPeriod

This from some idiot who might or might not have the domain gender.org. It came as an e-mail from Mike <[email protected]>:

I told him the payment was on its way and to hold his breath until it arrived. I hope he took my advice.

"A dispute is not goin to work out here, though I'm willing to give it back for a set price. I know you are very old (not too old yet though haha) so I wouldn't want you to get stressed out over this. Anyway I don't want the domain anymore as it's been very hard getting it sold. We can do this transaction in cryptocurrency only, hopefully you are familiar with Bitcoin/Litecoin/Ethereum and such. I think for the trouble 2000$ seems more than fair for me to return the domain back. After that you will never hear from me ever again. The domain currently sits on Namecheap but in the next 4 days is being switched over to another offshore registrar that is not located inside of the USA. Once that happens and you refuse to do the payment you will never see this domain ever again and I'm just goin to let it sit there and expire in the next 5-10 years. So please think about it. I don't need no sympathy talk or any of that sort either, no threatening with police I just want MONEY. If you do decide to do the payment I will send the log in details for the registrar which I transfered the domain to. This is not a scam incase you don't believe the content of this email I can also provide ownership of me having the actual domain though I'm sure you are smart enough to figure that this is real. Also I'm an honest person so you really can trust me when I say this domain will be right back in your hands the second I recieved the payment as I absolutely have no digital or physical use for a domain I can't sell/use for my own. Please get back to me after reading this email and forming your decision regarding this matter. Hopefully though we can sort this out without any new problems coming up. PS: Don't be stupid Denny!"

This just in from Mike the hijacker (see attachment). I replied, saying I hope he's still holding his breath.

Oops, am not allowed to post the URL! He posted a picture of a dashboard showing gender.org. For all I know, he worked it up with Quark XPress. Here's what he said:

"Since you seem not to take this quite serious, maybe this screenshot will help you deciding whether you want the domain back or not."

I put his IQ in the high two figures.

tell him to to add DNS TXT field with any text or number of your choice
then check it with any whois service like https://who.is/dns/gender.org

may take some time to propagate across DNS servers but usually a matter of minutes

He will need to contact our support. They can direct him to the right department. If it is still under your name on the WHOIS you can use Changeupdate.com if it is not, you need to email the details to [email protected]
