OK so I have a major rant about GoDaddy backordering.

I've tried it 3 times now and all times have failed. My most recent attempt was to be deleted today.

What do you know, I look at my account this morning and it says "backorder-failed" Even though it was capture pending only 12 hours ago. It was not at Snap Names auction or any other aftermarket.

The worst part is that I call GoDaddy to see why it failed. They said it became available at 2:15am this morning and was available for an hour or so. But by the time the GoDaddy backorder robot or whatever got to the name it was already registered by someone else.

I was awake at 2:15 and had I known GD was so horrible at this I would have kept an eye on it and reg'd it myself.

So why the hell did I just pay $18 for something that had I done it myself I would have gotton what I wanted for only $7

I am so pissed, arghh... I know that's just the way it goes though, and I will get over it.

I asked GoDaddy rep what their success rate is for backorders and he said they don't release that info.. Ha I'm guessing it's 10% or less.. IMO

Ohh and now I have to use my $18 for a 4th attempt at capture using their flawed system.. I asked to buy $18 worth of DNs but they said NO!!!!

So what do you all think of this system?

well godaddy clealy dislikes you, lol... i have had over 100 backorder credits in the last month alone, i caught most of them, the secret is to backorder domains(.biz and .us) that are not registered with godaddy already else they will end up in an auction!

some names i recently picked up

e-money.us
burma.us
nextel.us
quadbike.us

etc. etc. worked just fine :)

The fact is godaddy is one of the best for .us and .biz backorders.
Hmm, sounds like they've found a niche then. Makes sense when very few are
paying attention to those.

I had no clue it expired.. That really sucks.. What if they never get a name for me, it's totally there fault. Especially when all the names I backorder are always in the Pending Delete periods. What a STUPID rule.

THAT is exactly what I said, we should all together fill in a petition and ask to GoDaddy to give a refund for this useless service (oh wait...which service?)

But it seems that no one is interested in DOING something rather then just talking about it.

I've backordered a domain using GD. It's a dot com. Will delete in a week or 2. And this name is not a keyword, not brandable, went through auction with zero bids, etc. If GD can't catch this dot com, they will never catch any dot coms.

I have just checked and have 2 that are unused, so will see what happens :)

I tried to grabbed some com's on a couple of occasions, the first time was zero captures and on the second attempt to capture 2 new domains, they finally managed to catch one of these domains.

The second domain from the second attempt dropped and was available to register by anyone, so I grabbed it via another registrar to see how long it would take for the godaddy backorder to realise it was gone.

I got notification roughly about 8-10 hours later that the domain backorder was not successful.

If you like godaddy backorder service, maybe this will be interesting for you.

https://account.bluerazor.com/gdshop/Domain_Alert/landing.asp?prog_id=bluerazor

compared with godaddy, it is cheaper $12.95
(you have to pay $10/year, but you get free domain alert pro. with subscribtion too)

p.s.
I have not used either godaddy or bluerazor backorder.
Interface looks like godaddy's, both are Bob Parsons companies, but are they with same succes ?
If anyone have real experience with both, please share with us.

I just tried to backorder 6-9.us which recently expired. It was in pending delete for a while, I even called GoDaddy a couple times to be sure they were going to snatch it up for me, they did not and now WildWestDomains owns the name. Ugh... It ticks me off.

I've had this $18 backorder in my account for a WHILE now and I keep bouncing around to a new name every couple weeks because they never catch what I want.

Wildwestdomains is Godaddy..

So godaddy stole your domain you wanted.. well actually they just stole your money
:hehe: .
