Ok as far as I understand GD backordering its only one backorder per name BUT i think i have found a loophole because i have sitting in my cart a backorder for a name that has already been backordered

is there any value in making the order or will the previous backorder definitely beat mine? I would do it just for interest sake but im skint at the minute, appreciate anyones thoughts on this

If you have it in your basket... it wont be a backorder specifically for that domain that you chose. It will just create a backorder credit and fail to add the actual domain.
"This domain has already been backordered on our system"
or whatever...

Actually... the fact that you've backordered it doesn't really mean squat... you STILL have to bid for the name.

GD will put the name on TDNAM for Auction. The money you paid will apply $10 as the first bid. IF... if noboby bids, you get the name for the $10 you bid and the remaining $8.95 in your backorderd "payment" for registration.

If someone bids against you... well... then you've got a $10 head start.

I mistakenly thought, when I got caught up in this, that if you paid the $18.95 and Backordered the name, you GOT the name when it expired.

Not so... You're really just in the same boat as everyone else only you've got that $10 head start on the bidding.

GoDaddy will allow you to monitor sites for FREE which does the same thing as BO them... only you have to bid manually when the time comes.

One thing that I am interested in is how to know if a domain has already been backordered in the GD system BEFORE you purchase a backorder and attempt to apply it to a domain.

I have actually gotten 2 names with a GD backorder that were not GD domains. It was 2 names from a Snapnames affliate (I think Register for one and Network Solutions) for the other. These were names I wanted, but didn't want to pay $60 for. Of course I have missed a bunch going this route too.

You don't.... it's just building a BIDDER list and that means more commissions for GD. :p

Also, my understanding (after calling and asking very pointed questions to GD after my debacle) is that you can backorder from anywhere.... GD doesn't care where the domain is listed... it still goes through a bidding pricess at the registrar's site.

Also, GD said that if a domain is listed at another registrar and someone from GD has already Backordered it, you will be unable to. The system is supposed to kick out an "already backordered" type error. Not that it tells you BEFORE you try to backorder but at least it will tell you not to bother. IF that works that is.
