My dev partner and I are wondering if there is market for a .mobi website development service.

We can provide graphic designs build, php and mysql/sql intergration.

Are people crying out for this kind of service ? I'm not taking about corporate website builds.

I am not soliciting business just wondering if there is a demand.

Thanks

mobi is still not recognized by the majority of business owners, so end user development would be sporadic, :imho:

Would you get work? Probably. A lot of work? Probably not.

Domainers are cheap in general....Most would rather park a name and wait. Others realize the added value a developed site not only carries now, but also for the future of dot mobi.

If the option were there, most still would want a name or two developed, but we don't want to spring for the big bucks to do it.

So, to answer your question....if you're willing to start off "cheap"....you'll probably get a lot of business. If you're prices are "reasonable, you'll do OK. If you're looking to get top dollar, you'll be limiting yourself at this stage of the game. Not to say you're not worth it. I have no idea if you are or aren't. The fact remains that domainers, in general, usually either do-it-themselves, or not at all.

I, personally, have paid for development and used dev tools to do my own. Both ave distinct advantages / disadvantages.

Good luck if you decide to press forward!

Keep us posted :)

In general, the devs that are getting the most work are experienced, have some developed mobi's to show off to potential clients, and charge between 250-350 USD for a full mobi site.

We prefer value for money :hehe:

Your sentiments are essentially the same we have. We think there might be a market for something other than just templates. We are also bringing the graphical design elements to the equation which adds a lot considering the amount of real estate you have to work with on a mobi device.

Thanks for the comments. Appreciated.

I would say there is a big demand for dev. services. Speaking for myself, I have many nice names that are screaming to be developed but I do not know how.

I believe there is a good demand for mobile-friendly site development. I would advise not to market it for a single extension (.mobi).

Hi,
were not in a position to do that right now.

My comments was more to do with supplying not just a template you could download off the net. We would do the design element as well for graphics and logos. If a site was data driven we could supply the php for that as well.

The key element is to make it affordable. I guess are target market would be people who don't know hot to create a website but once they have a working site they can 'edit' it and make changes or add to it.

From personal experience the biggest problem we have in the conventional web design is getting the imagery/branding right. The client may not know who to create that branding. My partner is a superb graphic desinger, she can do the really 'small stuff' well and translate briefs into a good design.

Again I am not soliciting for business currently.

I wonder why Adwords does not have .mobi as an option when setting up you mobile ads?
