GAME.CD how to sell?

I need your thoughts on this.

I have just registered game.cd (games.cd is reserved by the registry).

It will require some time+efforts+money to develop the name, so I am thinking of selling it to an end-user.

How can I get the best deal for this?

I have read this thread and it seems the normal way is to email some potential end-users.

But there are too many "potential end-users" for the name.
So, out of hundreds of potential end-users, how do you find the ones with most potential?

Very Nice name... I don't know if CD is so good though? CD's are very 1990's & I don't even know where / what the CD extension is for?

The best mode would be add it in auction websites. There are a few coming along in few months.

I think emailing end users should be the final option.

.cd stands for Congo.

cctld's are in general harder to sell, as companies mainly look for .com.

List it everywhere you can (sedo, afternic) and market it. Try to submit it to live auctions, there you may have a chance to sell.

It is a good registration overall, but you need to be patient with it.

Put it up for auction on ebay or go the old fashioned route and call some people.

Hmm... So it is better to sell via auctions?
Do you have any recommendations (which auction house)?
I have never participated in any live auctions :p

irishmat: yes, this is a fresh reg :)

Yes, that is the best mode.

Moniker is really good, they have auctions in few months. Try Sedo as well, you can add this name and apply for the auction.

Just an afterthought, you might want to consider adding to the Sedo featured list[not free]. This will gain more publicity

If It was not taken until you registered it,then I doubt if you will be able to sell it.
Even if you are able to sell it,you might not get a good price for it.

This is not the case with cctld's.

And try to judge for yourself rather than going into stereotypes. Can this domain be used by an end user? Yes. Will it be an easy sale? No. Because many companies do not recognise alternative cctld's as valid options.

But to say that anything that is not registered is not worth registering is a long way from here.

Judge for yourself, judge the domain, not the registration date.

Certainly. :)

Gaming companies which have subsidiaries in countries would always like to add to their current portfolio of names.

I agree, but I am certain that gaming companies do not make a wealth from gaming products sold in Congo. It works better as a hack though.

There are 21 searches a day (according to WT) on game cd keys, or 15 for cheap game cd. And that is a very good starting point.

There are many gaming companies in the EU, I presume it'll be a good idea to target them as they prefer cctld's.

Just my opinion :)

They prefer cctld's where they reside in. Almost all cctld's in Europe are strong ones. They are used ahead of .com in most cases. For example .ro is more appealing than .com for Romanian companies. But .cd does not mean anything, as it is the tld used by an underdeveloped country in Africa (according to the IMF, the Democratic Republic of Congo has one of the smallest GDP per capita in the world).

I strongly believe in cctld's, but this one has no use in Congo.

However it is a good registration, and can be flipped, but there will be some work with it

We don't prefer all ccTLDs, we prefer our local-language words in local extensions- .com comes next

Guys, thank you for your suggestions!
I am very happy to receive such warm responses on this forum :)

I have listed the name on Sedo.
What do you think an appropriate BIN price would be?
Currently it is set to $7500 -- too high?

Please bear with me...
I have near-zero experiences on this matter :)

I would personally set it to 'Make Offer' to start with, but have the minimum offer amount very low e.g. $60-$100 (you don't have to accept any offers this low) that way you can let the market decide its value.
If you get a bunch of $100 offers in you can always counter with whatever figure you like- you can scare them with the $7500 price tag then! :)

And keep in mind that sedo gets $150 minimum commission on cctld sales (including .cd). So if you get an $160 offer, you would get $10 and sedo $150.

Thanks Simon, I have set the listing to "Make Offer".

LOL, if that's the case then it is better to sell the name here! :)

My highest sales in 2007 were from hand-registered names that were less than a year old (high $xxxx and low $xxxxx).
