Just a few months ago, Audacy.com sold for almost $2000 on DropCatch. To me, the buyer was clearly gambling that the owner of Audacy.space would want the name and be willing to pay a hefty price.

Have you ever spent an exorbitant amount on an expiring domain in the hope that a PARTICULAR end user would want it? Did that move pay off?

I would not spend $2000 on the hopes that I had only one buyer that would be interested. That ONE buyer may have been the one bidding against you and thought that $2000 was too high. Now you have gone and done it. Money like that then you should have a wider audience to sell to IMO.

The best is to get a name other users might want provided your target didn't go for it
