.FM Names -- Buy or No?

Thinking of registering some .FM names, anyone have any opinions on this extension. Worth regging some or waste of money?

Very niche. More expensive than .tv and less universal (and becoming less relevant as radio moves to digital). I'm assuming of course you're thinking of FM as-in-radio (frequency modulation) and not Micronesia to whom the ccTLD belongs.
What sort of area are you thinking of investing in?
If it's just general keywords, all the ones that would justify $69pa (IMHO) have been taken.
If it's NNN.fm (i.e. radio frequencies) or station names, make sure the station you're going to try and sell to has a bit of cash.

Of course if you're planning on developing a media-rich music site then the extension may help (e.g. clubland.fm).

.fm is $69pa at GoDaddy, $77 at Moniker and $99 at Domainsite. I think everyone else charges $199pa+.

Added to that, radio stations are preferred to use .com, .net or .org. They are not aware of .fm extension. If you will market your domain to radio afficiondos, then you you have a small market to deal. The price is not justifiable unless for some keywords maybe. I'm a domain investor, but not interested of .fm.

Thanks for the comments, just regged one, FORECLOSURE.FM which has OVT of 314654. Im in real estate and thinking of having some podcasts about how to avoid foreclosure.

Do you think that keyword is worth the large fee and fairly unknown extension?

I haven't registered any .fm names yet, but i was doing some searching for other extensions today, and saw that guitar.fm was available. Perhaps this domain (or another music-related term) would be a good fit for an FM radio station.

If you make a good go at the development side, then hopefully the regfree should not matter so much.
Personally, because your target audience is not going to be highly-tech-savvy (and may get a little confused or wary of a different extension) I'd also get a relevant .com to compliment: fcpodcasts.com is available, for example.

Good point, and i do, I bought StoppingForeclosure.com off buydomains about 4 months back. I agree names like this work in networks rather than alone. I am building networks of realty names at the moment.

Excellent! Knowing your market is the key to any success. If you plan to develop and market the domain then it will probably be successful. Having it and not doing a thing with it will be a waste of reg fee. I listen to sky.fm frequently so perhaps one day I'll be tuning into ForeClosure.fm and buying up local real estate.
