Joshua Schoen posted on X that he sold Fluid.io for $199,995. The sale took place at Afternic. I woke up to a great email this morning stating that Fluid.io sold at my BIN price of $199,995. I've had many big .io sales but this one tops them all! ๐Ÿ™Œ pic.twitter.com/eHzgQG9WYx โ€” Joshua Schoen (@jstenn13) November [โ€ฆ]

Interestingly the name was priced at $149,995 on Efty where it was parked. The buyer did not check the lander and paid the full $199,995.

That's a reminder that landers are not that important..

It just means in this instance the lander did not play into the sale. Plus, we don't know if the buyer saw the lander but opted to pay more to buy through GoDaddy as they trusted the brand over an unknown landing page.

So Joshua smartly added 25% to the listing price, netting him what he was asking at Efty.

And that would be great to know. It would be really telling if someone paid $50K more for the GoDaddy brand.

My thoughts exactly. Its a sweet 'little' payday for GD for basically doing sweet FA...

It looks like the domain was purchased through Nameะกheap.

And another interesting fact is that there were less than 3 months left until expiration. That is, they did not wait in the hope that the owner might not renew the domain. Or they just didn't check. Which is more likely. In this case, I can assume that they didnโ€™t check lander either.

If the domain had an efty lander then the seller paid 30% afternic fee (with the automaticly set boost)
so basically if he sold the domain on efty for $150K he would get more money than selling for $200k on afternic.

well this is amazing keyword with many applications..including ai

however it is io and not some top keyword like games etc

io has huge success tho now with 40 to 50 usd a pop most avg domainers keep away. and rightly so

personally thru the 10yrs io has been the tld that made most for me.

now... I'm seeing it more like dying end.

again this is obvious seller win.. and I'm sure we are all smart enuf to notice thatagain it happens to a high end domainer. not avg joe blow like most of us here. so there are patterns of contacts.. connections... folio visibility ... outbound... and being in right circles

$50k extra for dex advert in domaining community I suppose. Not sure it worth it but as a wise man said everything is an ad, except obituary.
