I have discovered after adding a large list of domains to my flippa account, that their system does not check duplicate entries, and just blindly queues them for verification... totally not cool, now I have a bunch on duplicate names in my portfolio in "need verification" status.

Why can't flippa let you know if you already have a domain in your portfolio and simply skip that domain(s) ?

@FlippaDomains should be notified and I am sure they will be on top of things.

What I don't understand is that they don't have code/checks in place to prevent duplicates from happening.... it benefits flippa more than the lister due to the extra load/work/bandwith flippa has to do/use.

Did you send them an email with this problem? I am sure they will fix it for you instantly. It id happen to me one time and I sent an email to their support and they fixed.

I am just puzzled why they don't have this basic stuff in place already like most other market places for domain names.

It means that if you have a large list of names you want to add to your PF, you need to manually check which names exist in your portfolio and which don't, and add the names that aren't already included..... talk about waste of time when some simple codes can let you know what names you already have without having to manually verify each name.

I guess if you have a list with duplicate names it's you who must be more carefull.
As someone with a lot of domain names, I know one must have them carefully organized on a spreadsheet or database, or efty.

Not really, flippa should check which names are already listed in your PF and simply skip them instead of blindy accepting them to be processed an re-verified and then requiring the user to email support and ask support to remove dupes... totally baffling.

I don't think its a big thing... As a domainer who is listing his domains on Flippa, you should be careful what you are listing... You should mail them.. When I found few bugs, I just contacted them and they fixed it...

I am not whining I am just pointing out a flaw I spotted in the adding domains to portfolio process. Flippa staff isn't obviously going to check for dupes themselves, but some basic java code would suffice to prevent domains already in PF to be re-added, therefore saving Flippa bandwith in emails and verification operations and saving the user in having to sort out the possible mess later.

Toodaloo.

Unfortunately for Flippa the Thread opener 1NiteStand is absolutely correct reg. this issue.

Coming from a QA background in software development i fail to see why Flippa has not integrated something as basic/routine as duplicate entry checking for its domain management system. Without verifying it myself i am quite confident that most other domain markets (such as Afternic etc.) do not let you add the same domain twice (let alone adding it twice in your portfolio) in the same domain upload process..

it should clearly be in Flippa's own (customer satisfaction, faulty listings, etc.) interest to have this fixed by their development team ASAP..

Thinking that we're doing this intentionally is kind of funny; why would we?

Please email [email protected] so we can investigate. As mentioned, it's a bug that occasionally occurs and we're trying to measure when/why it's happening...
