Those are some great threads you should take the time to look over as you will learn so much about Flippa. Also once you do definitely try it out yourself and see how it goes, test it out.

My personal experience has been good with just the normal listing option. I have been able to sell domains nicely this way. But when it comes to really getting the right value for your domain the higher paying listing options do make sense.

If you are just starting out though just go with the basic listing. Your time and focus should go to finding quality domains this way you won't need as much promotion to get them sold as quality tends to attract good buyers. You can always promote it in other ways like on the external domain auction promotion section here and over at NameBio.com they offer an auction feature promotion as well.

Right now though dedicate some time to learning and learn as much as you can. You will always learn something new in this industry so dive into this forum and best of luck!

Two important things to remember:

  • When you list with "no reserve" it means NO RESERVE. Not "well...I didn't get what I wanted, so I'm not going to give you the domain".
  • You're entering into a legally binding contract when you sell or bid.

Also, unless you're selling a domain that has a street value of at least $5K (NOT an EstiBot value!), the $240+ upgrades are a waste of money. And when your auction doesn't sell, you don't get to keep the same features when you "relist for free". You will get nothing out of it. You're better off doing your own promoting.

I read that Flippa is excelent for technology related domains. For example, ItMagazine.com was sold for $10,000 on Flippa by using the UltraPremium promotion package ($349). I've listened (and recommend) the Domains Sherpa video interview with the ItMagazine.com seller: domainsherpa.com/shane-bellone-itmagazine-interview.

In my personal experience, I've listed CheapHotelsTokyo.com 6 days ago (using the basic package $9) but I have no bids yet. It seems that Premium or Ultrapremium packages are necessary to get better exposure.
