Flash Sites

Is it true that search engines will not search and retrieve full flash sites.

I am struggling to increase the page ranking on my site that was built with Swishmax and it is entirely flash based

Sites mades in flash typically don't help search engine rankings since Flash sites have very little or no HTML text, they are not helpful for search engines and could potentially inhibit indexing. If your main page has little or no text, there's very little content that the crawler will index... which means your site won't pop up when people do searches. A proper combination of flash and text might just help.

It is always a good idea to mix flash and text toghether. If you have flash by itself though, I found that it may be helpful to create a few 1x1 pixel images and add alt text to them. Although bots don't pay much attention to the ALT text, it's still better than nothing. Also focus on your Title and Description metatags. Those play an important role in ranking algorithms.

its ok to use a full flash site if you nknow how to do it right.
If you can get hold of the .fla files of your website you can change and addin accessibility options which will mean that the big SE (e.g. google) will have some chance of spidering your site. but if you dont know flash well or dont know anyone who knows flash well or cant get the .fla file then your stuffed. If this is the case then all you can do is to make sure you plan your keywords and decription tags well on the html page and hope
