Hi,

How searchable are sites that are entirely Flash based?

Out of a sacle of 1 - 10 how do they compare to static HTML sites and the extent to which search engines will find them?

How can I improve the SEO of my flash site?

Regards.

In terms of SEO, search engines treat flash as a graphic and cannot analyze content inside a flash file. The implication means a flash website is hard to get top search engine ranking. The general advice for Flash sites is that title and meta-tags should be included on each page that shows a Flash file. Also if your main page has little or no text, there's very little content that the crawler will index so a proper combination of flash and text might also help.

Avoid flash - it is bad for SEO always.

Not exactly, I know of a few flash sites that rank very well, just make the content thats not in the flash keyword rich. Good title tags and lots of relevant incoming links. It won't 'hurt' anything, its just like having a image on a page...

SE is not capable of reading FLASH contents and will kick off.

They love HTML.
